Arriving from Norway at the beginning of school, Lise Blom Hartvigsen won our love with her charm and sparkling personality. As a foreign exchange student, Lise was very privileged to have Dr. and Mrs. Brooks Brown as her American parents. Lise immediately adapted to our American way of life. Blonde and blue-eyed, Lise's bright 'hi' was known to everyone in the school. No, the weather in Norway is not thirty degrees below zero and yes, they have parties and dates. Lise used her talent to sew all her clothes in American style. She loved all our food and especially, the ice cream. Lise's healthy tall was the result of her constant visits to the beach. For her outstanding achievements and contributions to duPont, Lise was honored by National Honor Society, Gold Key, Student Council, and Key Club. Duties as a foreign exchange student included visits to civic service clubs and community ollicials. Lise performed these duties with ease and poise. During the Christmas vacation, Student Council surprised Lise with a Norwegian Christmas party and a long distance phone call to her family in Norway. To record all her experiences in America, Lise kept a scrapbook filled with wonderful memories of new friends and many good times. The jingle of charm bracelets was caused by over fifty charms given to Lise by her friends to show her how happy we were to have her as our guest this year.
