The 1962-63 season opened and duPont traveled to Bolles, swamping their neighbors with a good beating. DuPont entered the Fletche Invitationals as the assumed underdogs of the tournament. Well! It didn't take long for those Dragons to prove who was boss. Topping their rivals, Lee, Fletcher, and Ribault, duPont emerged victorious to cop the holiday crown. Dragons settled down to business by raising Fnglewood's record of defeatsg but then the Dragons lost to Landoi Things began to pop and duPont roused a victorioius stampede over Fletcher, Bolles, Lee and Kenny. didn't seem to learn their lesson the first time, so they tried again, only to be scorched by Dragon iire. e of the season arrived and Dragon fans travelled across the river to the U. gym to see what their team coulc lklhat did the fans see? They saw the nd of the 1962-63 Class AA Tournaments. to deleat a powerful General team and ,ont emerged runners-up for the Duval duPont basketball season. The Dragons . Andy Schwitter and Kenny Ewer were Dragons decide to stay awhile as they stunned mighty Jackson, 75-69, i1 Of course, the Dragons didn't stop there as they came back place themselves in the final round ol the tournament. Finally fallin County Class AA Championship. Yes, Jacksonville saw the distinguished themselves as a team and as individuals. Randy Densol awarded Player of the XVeek plaques. Bill Domen and Andy Schwitter received All-City honors. Steve Parker and Bill Domen made the All-Tournament Team. And the other Dragons did their lull shareg thereby enabling their team to establish a victorious season.
