Beck Our high school offers a program for our Juniors and Seniors. If a Junior or Senior student chooses he may attend Beck Area Vocational School half of each school day for 2 credits each year. “I like going to Beck because it breaks the monotony of six straight classes a day,” said Junior Melissa Schanuel. There the students can choose from a variety of classes in which they get hands-on-training. There are a large number of our Juniors and Seniors who attend Beck and they seem to get a lot out of the training. It is an excellent way for our students to get an education. Corey and Dave attend the Electronics (TV and Radio Repair) class. Here they are changing the tubes on a portable TV. Kim works hard trying to improve skills to become a good secretary. John and Gene learn how to weld using the right safety equipment. 12 Academics

Open House Open House for the junior and senior high school was held on October 27, 1981. By school board policy it must be held before the end of the first nine weeks’ grading period. Most of the program took place in the gym, with performances by the high school band and chorus. After the music the parents, students, and teachers mingled and chatted. As always very few parents of high school students attended. One parent who was asked why she didn’t attend said, “I didn’t know anything about it.” You don’t suppose some students keep it a secret, do you? I wonder what Matt said to get everyone's attention? Lisa, her mother, and Mr. Merkley talk about the science class activities. 4 Academics
