WE’RE ALL IN HOMECOMING TOGETHER In ’78 we worked and played together dreaming, scheming, plotting, planning, building and finally putting all the ingredients together to form a magical Homecoming potion. It was the year of Maroon Magic, when the students shared feelings of pride and excitement carrying on traditions and starting them. Theme week went as follows: MONDAY was Dress Up Day and everyone got a chance to prove his or her flair for fashion. TUESDAY was Top'em Day and hat styles ranged from low-riders to tophats. WEDNESDAY was Tigers Are Best Over-all Day. Everyone wore over-alls in honor of the Tigers. THURSDAY was Pop’em Day and student council sold tootsie-pops and offered a $10 prize to the class turning in the most wrappers. FRIDAY was Spirit Day and many students wore maroon and white from head to toe to show spirit. Wednesday, after the first night of pounding and stapling floats, students scurried to the bonfire by the fieldhouse. The band played and eagle effigies were tossed in while classes competed to see which had the largest lungs. When Friday finally arrived students spent most of the day finishing up floats and looking forward to the long-awaited assembly. Cheering, whistles and clapping echoed throughout the halls of D.C.H.S. during the assembly. Long anticipated and well remembered by many are the homecoming skits and the winning one was exceptional. The seniors, not to be outdone, did a hilarious “Saturday Night Live comedy type skit with a cast of Wild and Crazy Guys , Coneheads, Not Ready for Prime Time Players, and Nurse Diesel. The junior skit which placed 2nd was a spoof of Charlie's Angels , the sophomore skit had a “Wizard of Oz” theme and the freshmen skit concerned spies. During the assembly Mr. Germain was presented a plaque by the football players and cheerleaders and Ms. Nowell a pot of flowers by the girl's volleyball team, for their coaching efforts for it was National Coaches Day. The game was the glory of Homecoming when the Tigers beat the Orchard Farm Eagles 47-0. The dance incorporated the Maroon Magic theme in programs and with wands and paper top hats as favors. Jade” was the band and they provided an evening for everyone with rock pop and easy listening music. Trophies and awards were presented and the coronation began. Homecoming was very special for Miss Patti Sitzes as she was crowned Homecoming Queen of 1978, and it will most certainly be remembered that way by all of us. 16

To say the least k an interesting A group of B characters provided a spellbinding and most original. HH almost HH live acting.
