Senior Class History All good things must come to an end, but memories are thoughts we can treasure all our life. lt seems such a short time since our class entered high school. And now we've become alumni. Do you recall our first all-school St. Patrtclds Day Party? Fun, wasn't it? During our Sophomore year we were determined to make a name for our class, and we succeeded by presenting Bob Lint's Rhythm Escorts at our Valentine Party which had a Leap Year Hop theme. Finally we were Iuniors, and we really came into our own with such memorable events as the play, At Date With ludy., the Football Dance, and the Hawaiian Prom. Quite a year! And this past year we have continued to show our ability to provide entertainment and service for the school. Our play, A Little Honey, and our midnight show topped off our four years at D. C. H. S. We were very fortunate to have Miss Glascoclc as a wonderful sponsor. Her untiring efforts to see us through all the way are gratefully appreciated. May 3l, l95U, was the big dayewe received our diplomas, and ended four of the happiest years of our lives. ye ,Vim SHIRLEY ANDREWS Glee Club, l, 2, 3 Elementary Stunt Club F.l-I.A. The team, when playinq as a unit, did not tail to win a qame, but due to sliqht injuries to such valuable players as LaCroix, Weller, Ruhman, and Schnitt- qer, the team frequently was overloaded with less experienced players. Instead of relying on star play- ers, this year's fast-moving squad was well balanced in shooting, ball han' dling, rebounding, and fast breaking. Dupo's tight defense held the opposition to a thirty-five-point average per game, the Tigers own average per game being fifty-five. The Tigers' field goal average was .367 and their free throw average .578. Players graduating are Lynch, Pennock, and Carey. Returning next year will be Gericke, Wittenbrink, Rainey, Vickers, Reynolds, Weller, and LaCroix of the varsity. Other participants were Granite City, Wood River, Alton, and Chester. Dupo's l2 to 8 victory over Beaumont of St. Louis was a notable example of skilled ball handling and line teamwork. Though the Tigers' strategy was criticized by many, the manner in which Dupo's boys controlled the ball contused Beaumont and prevented their star center, Koch, from making his usual averf age of 22 points per game. The victorious Tigers and their coaches were honored with an all-school assembly and pep rally at which time the trophy was presented. With a record of eighteen victories and three defeats, the Tigers de- veloped greater interest and a larger following than in recent years. The high spot of the season was when Polio Harres pitched a no-hit game against Madison. Though the 1950 team will lack such men as lehling, Gericke, Dooley, Harres, Hanks, and Wyatt, all of whom graduated, LaCroix, Carey, Tolhird, Weller, Camden, Hankammer, Markham, Haines, Lawson, and Hopewell re- turn to the local diamond this spring. The Thinclacls beat a ranqey Central Catholic squad by a close mar- gin ot 57-53. The Tracksters then met a very stubborn track team from Lebanon High School who spoiled their hopes tor first place. This meet was the most important as it was for the conference championship, but a setback by the Greyhounds, 60-53, put Dupo in second place. Richards and Isabel Bevier Chapters ot Future liomernakers of Amer- ica sponsored their annual all-school Christmas party and dance. Since our theme tor the year is Going Places with FHA, the party carried out this idea. The night ot the party everything was novel and surprising. Copies ot a real ticket, Dupo to New Orleans and re turn, were sold by the ticket agent and we boarded the train for a one-night allrexpense tour on the Mo. Pac. strearnliner Sunshine Special. Our imagination had been drawn upon, we had erected the observation platform of the train as the entrance to the gym, The conductor, brass buttons, cap and all, took our tick- ets and We quickly lett the icicles and snow ot illinois for the Warm clirnate oi New Orleans, One end ot the gym had become a garden with white trellis and lence lwined with red roses. A painted scene oi Southern moon and a river shrouded in trees formed the backdrop, The balcony posts were transformed with white grill-work, Leng dripping strands oi Span- ish moss hung from the ceiling over blue lights. A huge white bell hung in the center and striped candy canes added the Christmas spirit, along with the out- door Christmas tree in the garden, The backdrop oi the stage indicated a red-brick Southern home set oil with climbing red roses and poinsettas. The lawn of the home was the setting for the coronation, We were honored to have Bruce Barrington, popular announcer and newscaster, Station KXOK, St. Louis, act as Master ot Ceremonies tor the Coronation. Five FHA girls had been nominated and the student body balloted, choosing the Belle ot the Ball, Doris Pres- nell. She was crowned by the retiring Queen, Myrtle Mueller. They were escorted by Gene Rainbolt and Roy Heistetter. The tour attendants and escorts were Mary Lou Drennan, Betty Drennan, Patty Huebel, Cor- rine Zinn, Eddie Fox, Torn Hoockwell, Marvin Hartline and Martin Downing. Everyone had loads ot tun and the students are still congratulating the FHA girls on the success ot the party, Chairmen were lackie Stahl, Dehha Forness, and lean Thomas, Pugf' Ni.rlynn1 I 1121' 15 il 1l'FI!5i1l1I1il1I f.. , - 11 1 1 1 11 1111111 1 V1-1 '111111 1.111 1 1111-11y, w11:: 1111:11111'1 1 11, 1. 1111 1 11-11 11' 1111 1 1 ' 11 111 fX11111111 1111 11111-1'11-11 11111 11111111111 1'11:s' 11 :11111-11. if 11 1 1.1. ..11 . . :1 1-.1:11 1 1 , 1 111 1 11 11 , 1111111111. 11111 111:51 1111111111-11 11111111111 I1 1111111111111-1 1 1 1 11.1.3 . 1111,11:1 11 1' , 1111 I 11111 ' 1 111 111 Il 1111111 1.'1111y A1111 1111-111111111, 11111-1 131 1 1 ' ' 1111 E 1.-1. 3-11111111 '1111 11111 '111 111 111' 1'1111 1 . 1 1 11y 1111 111 1111111:s1111, 11111111111 1.1111111'1, 111111 1.1.1 4111111111 if 1111-111.. 1 1111 1 1111 1 1 1111 1 11111 111111 111111 111 1111111 1111l'14II1111'1111T 11 Ii4t31t 111 .1 11111: 31.11 I11111' Nl.: fl!-fll'r1 '11' 1 11 1 :'1.1 '111'111 11111111121 11111151 1111111:f1' 1 1111 11, 111 1 '111 '11.. 1 111:11 1.-1 1'1'11'1' :z, 1 1' '1 :11111',' 11111' 111.11 '1 , 11:111111 1:11' 11111 11.1111-1: 111 II 1 111 1.11111111 111111111 QP. 7' 111111 '111 '1:11 v'11'1: 111 11111111 111111 11 Il I1 131.2 111111121 li 11 11111 :1111'11 1-'111 ' .:1.1111v1 1..l 1 1111,1 11.. 1 11: 11.111 11 '11 11 1.f.11y 111.1111 1-1. 1.1:' 1'1 .17 .,111? 1'1':1'1' '1'11111'1.1:I 111 1'1111 1.11 1:1 11' .'?11f1 :111-111 11'111 1'111 ' 1111- 11111 111111.11 Il 11 111' 11-'111 f:'111111' 11:1111' 1 1'f'1'11 11111 11.1 11.111 1'y 1.111::1.1111 1111111 1 I1 :1 1:1111 11.1111111111 11111 11 1.111f1111.:1..11111111 1 Little Home On April 19 and 20 the Senior Class presented William Davidson's lauqh- packed comedy, A Little Honey.
