Seniv A 51947 Chapter I On September 7, 1943, one hundred and forty green freshmen entered the halls of D.C.H.S., and made up their minds that they would he the leaders in scholastic and extrafcurricular activities. They found that high school wasn't as simple as it had sounded, and it was a few weeks hefore adjustf ments were made. After a few weeks of school, otlicers for the class were elected, and Mr. Smotherman was chosen class sponsor. At the completion of the first year. with many accomplishments gained, we left school determined to make our next ycar a more progressive one. Chapter ll Witli the resolution to make our sophomore year or.e to rernernlwer. the class of '47 began to push forward from September io june under the sponsorship of Mr. Barker. Robert .Ioshu was again elected president of the elass1 lloheri Swoliodxi, vicefpresidentg and Llarence Langwith. secretary-treasurer. Spring carrie with its usual number of victims for Cupid. so we sponsoietl the successful party Don't Fence Me ln. The girls did the asking, paying and cutting. Before the end of the year came more sports. a social season and those hairfpulling exams: but we left school in -Iune knowing that we had two more years of work and play at D.C.H.S. Chapter Ill Then we were juniors and considered ourselves as Nupperclassinenf' The fact that we were juniors became more real when we placed our orders for class rings, longfdesired treasures. Gene Asselmeier took up the duties of class president. assisted hy LeRoy Darnell, vice president, and janet Richert, secretaryftreasnrer. XVe originated the Hrst homecoming weekend which was given on Noveinher 10th. There was a banquet and dance following the football game. To bring out some of the dramatic abilities of our class we gave the play Going Places, XVorking hard for many weeks in advance. we entertained the seniors with the annual -Iuniorfsenior Prom For this we decorated the gymnasium beautifully as a flower garden. Chapter IX' Now we are seniors and feel that we have reached the goal we have heen climbing toward for four years. Vv'e began the last and most remembered year with the election of class officers: Steve Zebos. president: liraneis jerome, vice presidentg and Thelma Pulcher, secretary-treasurer. Vvfe were busier than ever this year. crowding much work and play into ou final year. We participated in all activities and sports, and we gave an all-school party called Talent Scouts . since there were appointed seouis to find hidden talent for the entertainment at the party, As our final conf tribution to school life we presented the senior play on April 23 and 24. Baccalaureate -- graduation --- and our days at Dupo High are over. Now that the time has come around for the members of our class to graduate and take leave of our dear old Alma Mater. we cannot help but feel a little dejected. Even though we have new worlds before us to conquer. we will never be able to forget the good times and pleasant freindships that have made our school days at Dupo High such happy ones. Page Ten
