The spring and summer saw ad sales. Under the able leadership of head business manager Retha Godwin, a record number of ads were sold. Another job faced the business managers at the beginning of school—the sale of down payments. Here another record was set—nearly 500 down payments were sold. In October the annual was laid out, and then came the deadlines. From December 20 until the last item was mailed on March 15, the Echo’s condemned few put together this book. The annual staff takes a rest break from working on the third deadline. 109
