Mrs. Lucille Lockhart 18 Our Foreign Language Department offers an opportunity not only to learn the grammar of a language other than English, but also to study the life, customs, and literature of other people. Important primarily for its intriguing literature and colorful culture, Latin is offered and places its primary emphasis on the study of grammar and Caesar’s Commentaries on the Gallic Wars. French scholars receive a firm grounding in basic vocabulary and grammatical usage. They enjoy reading a complete book of French short stories in the second year of the course.
