This issue of the ’’Reflector”, for 1961, marks the end of a phase of our lives that will al¬ ways be associated with Dunlap High School. As we bid good¬ bye to our friends of D. H. S., let us pause to look back on some of the activities and organizations that played such a large part in our lives during this time. Perhaps at a future date when we pick up this book it will bring back pleasant memories and thus serve as a connecting link to the past, embodied with pleasure and fond memories. To you the graduates of 1961, we offer this yearbook which is the record of your last year at Dunlap High School. It ' s worth can only be determined by you, the READERS. In the New Testament Jesus expressed a similar thought when he said. as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he . You are soon to enter a new phase of life in a confused and confusing world, where you will have less protection by parents and more responsibility for your own decisions. Wise decisions grow out of sincere, wholesome thoughts. My personal congratulations on your achievements in becoming Seniors, and my best wishes to each of you for many years of opportunity to help make the world a better place in which to live and work. There is ample room at the top of the business and professional world if you want to move a- head. Success in your chosen vocation will come to you, as in anything else, in direct proportion to what you put into it. One of the aims of the high school is to train the individual student in the idea of service to others, and use of one’s talents. The graduate must learn to live intelligently and understand the m e - chanics of making a living. A student must learn to think clearly and evaluate truth properly. Few investments pay as great a dividend as education. You must continue your education if at all possible. The more training you have the bet¬ ter off you will be in the future. Education and Christian living makes it poss¬ ible to live a happy and full life. The faculty of Dunlap High Scnool wishes for each of you success and happiness. Sincerely yours. 1 ] R. Ten years ago, there were only 16 million acres of woodlands on the nation’s accredited Tree Farms. Today, there are almost 50 million acres, a three-fold increase. Each Tree Farm is being operated as a private enterprise, growing trees for a regular cash income, just like any other crop. One of the big reasons why tree farming is a growing business is because the market for wood is growing. Annual consumption of wood products is rising at a steady rate and continues to rise as our economy expands. The country’s tree farmers are able to supply these growing needs because they are employing scientific forestry methods in cutting, harvesting, seeding and through the protection of their timber from fire and disease. This is good news not only for tree farmers and wood-using industries, but also for the nation. West Virginia Pulp and Paper C ongratulations Seniors of 1961 COVINGTON TRANSFER STORAGE CO. 215 W.
