CLASS HISTORY The 1959 Senior Class of Dunlap High School had its beginning early one September morning in 1948, when Kay Carper, Gay Maupin, Lloyd Webb, Kathleen Carper , Carole Treynor , Sarah Dameron,Joe Anna Lewis, Donald Wilson, Michael Treynor, Carol Jean Persinger, Sterling McAllister, and Charlotte Kersey started to school the first time. Dickie Cochran joined us in the second grade from Falling Springs. Janet Booth came from Callaghan to Dunlap in the fourth grade. In the fifth grade, Barbara Eggleston, Betty Fridley, and Bertha O ' Conner joined us from Callaghan. Also, Ronnie Nicely from Jeter. Joining the group in the sixth grade were Paul Turner, Sammy Moore, Donald Buckland, and Ledford Fridley. In the seventh grade , Terry Surber , and Sandra Carter came from Hunter to Dunlap. Also, Deloris Hinton from Jeter. 1955--Freshmen at last! We proudly begin our high-school career. Doug- las Drummond and Patricia Martin came from Jeter to join us. Also, Leon Armentrout from Falling Springs joined the group. As the time rolled by, James McAllister joined the class in the Sophomore year . Lloyd Webb from Covington came to Dunlap in the Junior year. Also, Gladys Rock joined us from West Virginia. The high-lights of the Junior year was the arrival of the treasured class rings and the Junior-Senior Banquet at the Silver Arrow. Also, publishing the class newspaper, The Knight Herald . Senior Year! The class began in September with hopes for a successful year. Carole Treynor, Sandra Carter, Deloris Hinton and Sarah Dameron were chosen to lead the class during the year. Facing the class was cam- paigning for Joe Anna Lewis as candidate for Miss Dunlap , publishing the annual, THE REFLECTOR, presenting the Senior Play , and planning for our Senior trip. The 1959 graduating class of Dunlap High School has a record number of 32 graduates. Our hopes for the future are even higher as we march down the aisle in our graduation gowns and caps with dangling tassels. Charlotte Kersey Historian 10
