Board of Education HIS year the Board of Education carried on its usual activities, provid- ing for the maintenance of the school buildings, paying the salaries of teachers and janitors, and authorizing the general courses of study. One of the most important and outstanding functions of the Board was their new provision for transportation facilities that became necessary with the closing of Number 8 school. In Ianuary, the new maroon and whitew bus was scheduled for its Hrst run. The officers of the Dunkirk Board are president, Iohn McMachang secretary, Arthur H. Woellieg assistant secretary, Martha French, superin- tendent of schools, Frederick R. Darling, attendance officer and inspector of buildings, Ioseph I. Clifford, secretary attendance officer, Katherine E. Franzheimg and census, Amelia M. Graas. Other members of the Board are William Godfrey, Albert G. Walter, Dr. Ioseph R. LaPaglia, Clarence W. Lunger, Dr. R. G. Bartkowiak, and Margaret B. Daley. The meetings of this group are held the second Tuesday of each month at 8:00 in the evening.
