On October 13, 1961, the second homecoming activities of Dunkerton Community School were held. Five floats were built to commemorate the activities and a cash prize was awarded for the best float. The sophomore class had the winning float entitled, It's our Lucky 13th. The queen was crowned in the afternoon and a parade was formed to go downtown for a pep rally. The queen and her attendants rode on the senior class float preceded by the Dunkerton High School Marching Band. The homecoming activities were climaxed that evening by a football game with Tripoli, and a dance after the game. Marilyn Schares reigned as queen and was attended by Jeanie Brennan, JudiGarbes; Peggy Nissen, and Becky Sage.

KNEELING: Manager, Carol Cox; Coach, Mr. Readshaw; Chaperon, Miss Waligorski; Manager, Kathy Kramer. Although their record was not outstanding, the girl's steadily improved throughout the season. They compiled 5 victories against 13 defeats for their best record in four years. Five members of the starting six will return next year and Coach Readshaw is anticipating a good season.
