FOOTBALL The Raiders, relying heavily on freshmen and sophomores, had a some what difficult time overcoming the size and experience of many of their opponents. Even though their record was not perfect, their team spirit and fight made every game an exciting event. Coach Readshaw's Raiders compiled three victories against five defeats. They won the first three games before heavy injuries to key players slowed their assault. With 141ettermen returning, the Raiders are anticipating a good season again next year.

On October 13, 1961, the second homecoming activities of Dunkerton Community School were held. Five floats were built to commemorate the activities and a cash prize was awarded for the best float. The sophomore class had the winning float entitled, It's our Lucky 13th. The queen was crowned in the afternoon and a parade was formed to go downtown for a pep rally. The queen and her attendants rode on the senior class float preceded by the Dunkerton High School Marching Band. The homecoming activities were climaxed that evening by a football game with Tripoli, and a dance after the game. Marilyn Schares reigned as queen and was attended by Jeanie Brennan, JudiGarbes; Peggy Nissen, and Becky Sage.
