Our last year of school has been filled with hopes and disappointments. All in all, it has been a year to remember and cherish. Basketball, Chicago and the Junior-Senior Prom were among our thoughts of graduation and the future. We have many people to thank for their guidance through our school years. Each of us realizes that our teachers and parents want us to reach our goal in life and become people worthy of that goal. We are looking forward to the future but we will never forget our friends and D.H.S. Class Officers CLASS OF 62 We, the Juniors, now consider ourselves seasoned classmen. Class elections provided us with Loren Knief, president; Vernon Jensen, vice-president; Dee Bartholomew, treasurer; Judy Kirkpatrick, secretary; and Lynda Heiple, class reporter. We felt that a great honor had been bestowed on our class when our own Judy Kirkpatrick was chosen Homecoming Queen. Two attendants were also Juniors, Dee Bartholomew and Judi Garbes. CLASS OF 63 The sophomores led a successful year under their president, Judy Goeller. Following her were vice-president, Peg Nissen; secretary, JoAnn Miller; treasurer, Lyle Matthias; and reporter, Leta Bartholomew. We have worked hard this year to increase our treasury so we will be able to provide the seniors of next year with the best banquet ever. We wish to thank all who have helped us this year including our sponsors Mrs. Ihns and Mr. Charles Hickman. CLASS OF 64 We the freshmen of the class of 61, got off to a rough start, but after a severe dose of initiation we laid our noses to the grindstone. Helping us over the rough spots were Keith Magee, Danny Widdel, Cathy Bower, Arlene Kuyrkendall, and Linda Frost. Many of us participated in school activities such as: cheerleading, marching band, majorettes, basketball, football, softball, and baseball. All of us wish to express our gratitude to Mrs. Crowe and Mr. Waligorski, our sponsors, for helping us through the year. Mirror Staff The Mirror, the Dunkerton School Newspaper, was published the first of each month. Planning the Mirror each month were Gary Miller and Patsy Rekers —Co-Editors. Besides the regular staff members, the grade teachers and class reporters also helped by supplying the news from their particular classes. They won twenty games while losing only three. Two of the losses were avenged later in the season. The Raiders finished the season with several honors: Cedar Wapsie Conference Champions; Sectional Tournament Champions; and one of the finest basketball followings in Northeast Iowa. The Dunkerton fans jammed every gymnasium the Raiders played in and it was apparent that the fans were proud to be represented by a group of boys the calibre of the LOST 3 70 Lamont 64 61 Orange 57 CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT 47 Tripoli 50 SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT 72 Fairbank I.C. 42 60 Hudson 41 73 Parkersburg 48 DISTRICT TOURNAMENT 44 Don Bosco 66 Raider Squad. The Raiders and their many fans were at every game with one thought in mind — to win; however victory was not achieved at the cost of sportsmanship for their conduct at all times was exemplary. Dunkerton fans will greatly miss the graduating sehiors (Jed Magee, Harold Vokoun, Bob Happel, Tom Brasch, Dave Bailey) but with a good nucleus of returning lettermen (Knief, Stewart, Jensen, Halterman, Hauptly) they are anticipating a good season again next year. Selections from the MUSIC MAN and SOUTH PACIFIC, thrilled everyone. The costuming and staging lent greatly to the atmosphere of the production. Many weeks of hard work were put into “Rhythm at Random,” but the response of the community and the audience was intensely gratifying.
