Our Superintendent For five years Jordan L. Larson has guided our Ship of State. He served as superintendent at Lit-tleport and at Garna-villo before coming to Dunkerton. Mr. Larson, one of 12 children, was born on a farm near Roland, Iowa. His early training was in a rural school. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1922, and has taken postgraduate work at Iowa State College and at the University since. If plans materialize he will be awarded an advanced degree this summer. Through Mr. Larson’s efforts the tuition income has increased from around $1,200 to over $4,000 a year. Forty-two per cent of our present high school are tuition pupils. Besides this local school taxes have been lowered every year of his administration. Progressive economy has been his policy. Our superintendent is now president of the Consolidated Schools Section of the Iowa State Teachers’ Association, and has held other offices in the Northeastern division. He Page is a Captain in the Officers Reserve Corps and an active worker in the community. The Class of 1931 express their appreciation for his counsel and guidance throughout their high school career. High Spots of 1930-31 There have been many improvements in our high school during: the past year. These have greatly increased the efficiency of our school. They include the following: The largest freshman class in the history of the school was enrolled last September. We are offering a Commercial Course consisting of Typing, Bookkeeping, Business Law and Business Arithmetic. Our school exhibit at the Waterloo Dairy Cattle Congress won second place. The Junior Class Play netted more than any other Junior play we have ever presented in I). H. S. Dunkerton’s basketball team won all of its sixteen games which were scheduled during the season. Our girls’ basketball team had a remarkable record. They lost only one game to Hazleton and two games played with Reinbeck. The baseball team has managed to keep in the lead in the Black Hawk County league. A sixty-piece band has been organized under the supervision of Miss Peick. Seven
