AMUEL KILI HRK Wzy Does Cod by' GERTRUDE SCHROER Why did God take him from us? we ask. Class of Q54 Pd .say because in Heaven he had a greater task, One greater than any he's done on earth these past years, Why does God always choose the best of men, kind, sympathetic, And hill do it well, you say, smiling through your tears. Uflflefmlflflillg? And so if you look out the window tonight and see Why doesn't God take the murderer, or the common thief, those who are always demanding Something for themselves, taking but never giving, Hurling others, friends, foes, killing anything which is living? Why does Cod remove from earth the courageous, unfrightened man, - Instead of those who stand back and say, I don't think I canv? While we could do without the lesser of these two, God chose the better man, the same as you or I would do. We now have lost a wonderful man, friend to us all, And though he said, The best packages are those which are small, His heart was large, full of feelings for us alone, His smile and voice could melt any man, even one of stone. A star, nearer, brighter, different from the rest, It will be Mr. Kilishek, friend, teacher, still watching over us from high above, He who has shared our friendship, hardship, fun, and love. Mr. Kilishek, rest in peace, because peace is yours at last, And donft work too hard on the newly acquired God-given task. W e miss you now, and although the months ahead pass into years, We'll remember you always, though our eyes be dimmed with tears. God, yozive got a man, one of the best-- Mr. Kilishek, a little better than the rest. He might be with You now, but hz-fs in our thoughts, EOD. Take care of him Cod, he'll do his best for You. Key to the club's success was the team,s overall balance with all five starters scoring consistently in double figures. Roman 113005 Heleniak led the scorers with a 23-point average, while captain George Chingery was runner- up with a 15-point average. S C 0 R E S St. Peter,s ........ Home .......... This year's Varsity Squad is composed of four senior and four junior girls who have worked well together in close friendship. As cheerleaders, they were busy making pom- poms for football games, giving pep-rallies and com- posing new cheers like We Gotta Win. The squad won't easily forget the fun they had marching through town after football games, get- ting out on the court to cheer for that fabulous basketball team, and all the other things done to make their squad one that the school won't easily for- get. S GUES S Once again the New York Herald Tribune Forum has honored Dunellen High School by sending two Forum participants to visit Dunel- len families. Miss Hisako Shimazu, of Osaka, Japan, and Mr. Sai Sang Toom of Taunggyi, Burma, arrived in Dunellen on January 15. Miss Shimazu was the guest of Phyllis Roth, 375 New Market Rd., Dunellen, and Mr. Toom of Ted Holcombe of 28 Church St., New Mar- ket. Both hosts were members of the senior class. Miss Shimazu, 18, is a third year student of Tezukayama Gaukin School in Osaka, Japan. The war years have left bitter memories, but she recalls a happy childhood spent with her grandparents who managed a large well-known department store near Tokyo. Miss Shimazu enjoys reading, music and the movies. Mr. Sai Sang Toom, a student at Kambawsa College, Taunggyi, Burma, has just turned 16. When the Japanese occupied Burma, his family was forced to live in the forests and subsist on wild animals and fruits. At the end of the war he was sent to India for an education, then to Kambawsa College. After a year there he learned that his father was ambushed and killed. Mr. Toom's hobby is stamp collecting. His ambition is to become an engineer. Mr. Toom says: 6'Burma will need engineers to bring it to a modern standard with bridges, buildings, and above all a new and better civilization. A student committee was formed to plan a schedule of activities for the visitors. Members of this committee were: Phyllis Roth, Deanna Schneider, Frances Roberts, Lucy Wiltrakis, George Chingery, Ted Holcombe, Curt Hare, and Fred Henry. Some of the activities planned were a faculty introductory tea, an assembly program, a party and dinner for the visiting students and the host families.
