Each year girls in the Greater Dunedin Area compete tor the Miss Dunedin title. Each contestant must be between seventeen and twenty-six years old and have graduated from high school by September of that reigning year The judges evaluated the contestants on personality, social graces, swimsuit and gown competition, and talent. Of the sixteen girls who competed this year, twelve were seniors from Dunedin High School: Phyllis Feddeler, Diana Bragg, Phyllis LaFalce, Lori Wilson, Joyce Mat- thews, Gloria Robinson, Katharine Kunau, Toni DiDomenico, Carol Finch, Ronda Rilott, Kori Huber, Cherie Albury, and Jeanne Yancey. Kendall Lea Brown, Miss Dunedin of 1978, crowned the win- ner of this year ' s competition, Joyce Louise Matthews, The first runner-up, Stacey Guy, serves as an alternate if, for any reason, Joyce cannot complete her reign. Phyllis LaFalce was chosen as Miss Congeniality by the other girls. Phyllis Feddeler won the swimsuit competition and Joyce won both the gown and talent portions of the contest. As winner, Joyce received a full year scholarship to John Robert Powers School of Modeling, free tuition to SPJC and $300 to the college of her choice. 1) Joyce Matthews does tier winning rendition ot ttie Sailor ' s Hornpipe. 2) Kori Huber recites tier poetry for the talent portion ot the contest, 3) All the contest- ants take part ma rousing variation of Ease on Down the Road. 4) A delighted Joyce poses for the receptive audience 5) Kathy Kunau performs her autobiog- raphy through dance. 290
