At the time we thought little of later years but as time progressed we were determined to be- come the best class that has passed through the doorways of D. C. S. After seven years we hit the first plateau, Junior High School, then two years later, Senior High School and now we're Seniors. Let's look at the things we have done in Senior High School. In our freshman year we were a bit green but we managed to survive. For our class play we presented a satire on TV's Arthur Godfrey and Groucho Marx. In the spring we had a wonderful picnic at the fairgrounds, under the supervision of Miss Spencer and Mr. Ballard. Activities in our Sophomore year came more easily since we were now more experi- enced. We sold felt letters to augment our treasury. Scrambled Eggs was the title of our la directed b Mrs. Frank. The class icnic at Watkins Glen rounded out the ear's ,ry y Y P Y activities. The Junior year was started off by selecting Mr. Wallace as our class advisor. Ac- tivities for the year consisted of the paper sales and the Christmas card sales both of which were very successful. We started printing a school newspaper which was well received by the student body. Our play, which was directed by Mr. Wallace, was entitled Hill- billy Weddin'. Who could ever forget Ma and Pa, alias Joan Trenchard and Bob Huber? The Junior Prom was a huge success thanks to the students for getting dates and ioining in the evening of fun. The last and most glorious year is drawing near an end. We have Mr. Wallace as our class advisor and Don Davis as class president. The magazine sales were very suc- cessful. We established a new record in total sales. Special thanks is due Bruce Robbins who did a bang-up iob in getting subscriptions. In order to get a different atmosphere at the Senior Ball we devised a different and new way of decorating the gym. Half the gym was used for dancing while the other half was used for the chaperones and lounging. The theme of this year's ball was Winter Fantasy. Once again we presented our class play two nights. This year, under the direction of Mrs. Utter, we produced On the Night of January l6th. We are now eagerly awaiting the Senior Trip to Washington, Junior-Sen- ior picnic and our most cherished goal, GRADUATION. It is our sincere wish to those who follow, that their years in D. C. S. might be as fruitful and challenging as ours has been. f' . .1 i g ef . ..---of 6 l... Donald Davis President V. Pres. He has worked hard to help us tackle and solve our big problems with his father- ly advice. As juniors we were close to being broke. All through that year he pushed us and helped us ac- complish all our goals with the greatest success. Mr. Wallace was our unanimous choice for class advisor this ear. Starting in late Oc- tober we set a new record for selling Christmas cards. Before Christmas vacation, we had our Christmas party. This spring, we will have the Junior Prom, a few more roller-skating por- ties and the Junior-Senior picnic, to which we are looking for ward. With our paper soles constantly adding money to our ac count, we are looking forward to having enough money for our Senior Trip next year. An enthusiastic audience enjoyed our Junior Play, Sp Fever, presented April 5. The proudest of our achievements is that we have been the honor class for the entire school year. Let's start with the Freshmen who are in their first year of high school. Their first activity of the year was a very successful Christmas party. Then they entertained us very well with their assembly, written by the class and directed by Mr. Ballard. They are looking forward to their class picnic this Spring. Next are the Sophomores, who also had a successful Christmas party. They are now working on their class play and are planning for their picnic at Watkins Glen. By sel ing Scotsmen pins at home basketball games t ey are earning money. Now come our rivals, the JUNIORS. They took over the aper sales last spring and are doing very well on it. Their Christmas card sales were very successful, and added to their treasury. Their play, Spring Fever, is cast and practice is in progress with Mrs. Weil directing. Also l might mention their beautiful class rings they received early in the school year. The Junior co-advisors are Mr. Velesenti and Mr. Witter. It has been fun having the class of '58 as our rivals and hope they have much success. Now comes the mightiest class of all- the SENIORS. If all Senior classes have as much fun as we have had, they can say high school was a success. First off, came our play, The Night of January l6th, which was directed by Mrs. Utter. Every practice was very lively and after the first produc- tion we had a party at a member's home. Next was our magazine sales. Although we didn't surpass our goal, we had the greatest amount of sales, moneywise, than any other class has had at Dundee Central. During the Christmas vacation we had a basketball game, between the alumni of '55 and '56 against the varsity squad, and a dance. Incidentally, the alumni trimmed the varsity. In Jan- uary came the Senior Ball. Mary Cronin and Kevin Considine, her escort, were chosen Queen and King and reigned for the evening. Other activities which have increased our treasury are ice cream and candy sales. Coming up is our Senior Trip, Junior-Senior picnic, the day when the faculty gets trounced by the Seniors, and last, but not least, GRADUATION. We are indebted to the faculty for helping us attain our goal, but our special gratitude goes to Mr. Wallace, our advisor, who through the last two years has fathered us in the right direction with the greatest success. Mr. Wallace, you'll rate supreme in the book of any member of the Class of l957. C0444 22 E ighfh Grade Row 1: D.Briggs, P.Schoonover, G.Wright, W.Howe1l, D.Wilcox, K.Jones, A. Bradley, R.Prior, C.Depew, Mr. An- derson 40 F Girls' Sports The giris' sports program has been iuii ot interesting and exciting activities this year . Pts aiways, we take advantage ot the taii weather and spend our gym periods and intramurai periods outside. To start ati the year , our most popuiar game was soccer , which seems to be a tavorite sport among aii the students. We had pienty oi tough games and exhausted giris, but there were no compiaints. PM in ai i i must admit that the giris were in pretty good shape and in good spirits when the soccer season came to a ciose . Pstter we tinished soccer, the test ot the iaii and winter months were spent in the gym getting ready tor the basketbaii season. We began with skiiis to review ots, piaying techniques, methods ot making baskets, and had a briet discussion it didn't take iong to master those simpie skiiis so within one short f d running. What iun we hadi Nong with the ditterent teams ym ciasses and intramurai periods, we piayed iris We were deteated both times by better resuits next year be- piv on the ruies. w week we were att an competing against each other in g against the Penn Yan and triammondsport g . oniy a smaii margin. Don't worry, giris, we'ii have Q cause practice makes pertect, you know. J Pitter basketbaii came voiieybaii , a good game tor trimming those iong tinger- naiis. This game aiso has certain skiiis that must be conquered tor good resuits and good team work. P- variety ot skiiis, which were very interesting to see and quite hard xo iigure out , was deveioped by the giris. What games we hadi i am W happy to say , there were 19 serious iniuries but a tew broken tinger naiis, bent V iingers, and sore hands, aiong with a iew aches and pains here and there . For the next tew weeks we iearned a variety ot dance steps which inciuded M the toxtrot , waitz, tango, square dancing, an that ever popuiar iitterbug. The giris that took the part ot the boys in the various dances are to be compiimented on their good work. Keep it up giris because you have the maie part iearned bet- ter than the reai maies do themseives. At the present time we are trying to break our necks at tumbiing. Let's tace it , girisi Some oi us iust aren't made tor it. This sport is a iavorite with those who X have quick, agiie, bendabie bodies, but tor some ot us who aren't that ioose, it X presents a probiem ot doing hand-springs , tiips, backbends, and pyramids. Serious- iy though , it is a iot ot Tun and we iust couidn't get aiong without it. thank Ntrs.
