Gil BG. HR. EM. 16 Qi 5 Y r T HI TORY The class of l95l first organized in the year 1946 when we were in the seventh grade. Our initial efforts to raise money for our class were started. We payed dues and thought we were really important having a class bank account. In the eighth grade we had dues and helped sponser the tap dance review which helped our treasure grow. A We started off our freshman year with a bang electing Charlotte Stanton as our class president. Mr. Hullman was our class advison Although the Ubign seniors sometimes referred to us as Hkidsn we felt very important being one of the nBig Fourn. In June we had our wetn freshman picnic at the Dundee Fair grounds. Our bank account was still growing and we had already started to think about our senior trip. During our sophmore year we had to act a little more Nseriousn since now we were only three years away from that nbig dayn. We all studied harder. fOr did we?J Thomas Davis was elected class president. We couldn't get rid of him as class president for the remaining years in school either. What a personality! we sold school supplies and all occasion cards to help our treasure. We had a sophmore hayride and later on our sophmore picnic at Watkins Glen. It still is a mystery where Mr. Algers put all those hotdogs he ate. In our junior year we still attained the feeling of wanting to make money. With Thomas Davis as president of our class, we really went out to raise money for our senior trip. About two months after our junior year began, we were walking around showing off our class rings. Boy were we proud! Our project of selling school supplies was taken up. The junior play HHome Was Never Like Thisu was a big success. Mr. Nesbitt was a wonderful director. The prom was held in May and Barbara Woodard was the lucky girl to wear the title of HMay Queenn that night. The big Junior-Senior picnic was held at Roseland Park. Was it Gordon Pratt that liked to go through the Hdark spook houseu so well with someone of the opposite sex? At the close of our junior year we had a nice start on our trip, financially. At last we are seniors. Again Thomas Davis was elected president The class had forty-four members. For raising money we -sold magazine subscriptions and are selling candy during the noon hour and at basketball games. Our senior play went off wonderfully. I don't think our history class will ever hear the last of how we looked imitating children from the ages of eight to eighteen in our play production uCheaper By The Dozenu. Mr. Wallace does give the most pleasant comments, or does he? In the future we are expected to hold our Senior Ball. We also await our class trip, the Junior- Senior picnic and finally, graduation day. We, the class of 1951, wish to express our thanks to our advisor Mr. Witter who had helped us reach our goal of achievement. Also we Wish to thank our teachers and our principal, Mr. Depew, for their kindness and patience with us. Shirley Dibble Historian 17 UNIOR U d - -- , S , d D. Woodard T. Dlugosh now 1 J. Our most important activity towards raising money is the selling of school supplies. Before Christmas we conducted a lively business in the sale of Christmas cards. So far this year our social events have not been on the basis of money getting affairs. In October we shivered through a hay ride--but then everyone says it was worth it. Our Christmas party went off splendidly with even Santa Claus being proud of us. The next big affair on our agenda will be our Junior play in March, which we surely hope will be a success. And what Junior does not look forward to the Junior prom which will be held in May? Leonard Klug 18 K L. , J. iPS, hear Row l--H. Briggs, F. Litteer, E. Cadwell, R. Smith, W. Marshall E. Hilligus, H. The members of the Freshmen, Sophomore, Juniors and Seniors make an active pa r. First, we will start out with the young and active Freshmen. Early this fall they started out with a hayride. The weather was a little rainy but they continued to have a good time. There are more Freshmen than previous years, so they are divided into three sections. Their advisors are Miss Herrington, Mr. Daulton, and Mr. Wallace. Next we will talk about the boisterous, but'sweet Sophomores. If you can hear a group of noisy students, it is the Sophomores having a class meeting. The hayride which has proven to be very popular in our school was also enjoyed by the Sophomores early this fall. They also have an assembly coming up soon. Mr. Host is their advisor. The iophomores have a good start and we hope they continue to be success- u . Now we will give special mention to our rivals nThe Juniorsn. We really have enjoyed having them as our rivals, Everyone else was having a hayride so why oouldn't the Juniors? From what we hear, they didn't have any trouble enjoying themselves. The Juniors have just received their rings which they are proudly flashing around. Mrs. Utter is their faculty advisor. One of their biggest projects was the selling of all occasion cards, which added to their bank account They also have inherited the School Supply Center frOm the Seniors and are doing very well. They have yet to present their Junior Play which will occur'in March and the annual Junior Prom in May. We hope they will be success -ful and also have fun in their activities. And lest but not least comes the faithful Seniors. What fun we have had in our four years of high school. Thus far this year we have sold magazines and have the candy sales project. The Seniors really got out and sold those magazines. They proved very successful. The Seniors started a new fad this year. The class all ordered white sweaters with the maroon emblem on them. Everyone wore them for the first time to an asembly and we received recognition. J The Senior Play 'Cheaper By the Dozenu went off very well. The cast all played their parts very well. John Cadwell and Janie Kleckler played the part of the father and mother. The boys and girls really were a howl in their short pants and skirts. Much thanks goes to Mrs. Utter for her most wonderful co-operation in directing our T3 9-yy we were very unfortunate in losing Mr. Kullman in our Junior year as our advisor. He had been our advisor since our Freshman year. Mr. Witter became our new advisor and continued to be our Senior advisor . The class of 51 wishes to thank Mr. Kullman and Mr. Witter for being such wonderful advisors. Much thanks goes to anyone else that has helped us in any way. The best of luck to our fellow class mates! The Senior girls have always I , been very active and have participated in these events throughout our years in both grade school and high school. As freshmen, our class, as any freshmen class did not do too well. Who could with the sophomores Juniors, and seniors taking advantage of our being new at the game. we d1dn't lose hope though, for we were much better during our sophomore year. With a yeards experience we showed much im B provement in our sophomore year. In the interclas basketball tournament we placed second. We felt good, having beaten those senior girls who had so long kept the title of Uchampsn. It was during our sophomore year that we were included in the, playdays. Dundee won at the basketball and volleye ball playdays and Odessa won the track playday in which we participated. In our Junior year we played intramurals in stead of interclsss in our sports. Basketball, softball, volleyball, and soccer tournaments were played. We also had a basketball, a volleyball, and a track playday. Dundee won the basketball, with Odessa victorious at the track playday. So far this year we have had four playdays in all-one volleyball and three basketball. At each of these we have competed with the g1rl's teams from Romulus, Ovid, Trumansburg, Interlaken, and Odessa. We are proud to say that we were the champions of all four playdays, thanks to the training by our gym teacher, Mrs. Garvey. Plans for the basketball and ping-pong tournaments are well under way and we expect to ' start them very soon. ,jj5S:::::1'f- The Senior girls want to express admiration for the spirit of the freshmen, sophomore, and Junior girls: you all have good teams and it has been wonderful playing with you. we wish you all success in the forthcoming playdays and tournam -ents.
