Several n1ghtS ago, the class of 1948 met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Crawford. Mrs. Crawford K you rem- ember Irene Palmer! always was a great one for parties, and since John has become the manager of the New York Yankees, she figured that she could afford a really big spread. It was a happy gathering. At one end of the room, Mrs. John Conklin, Mrs. Jerome Wright, Mrs. Franklin Jaynes, and Mrs. Amos Hammond - the former Wilma Axtell, Edith Beard, Murbell Carey and Laura Hallenbeck- were discussing the latest diaper styles. ' Farther down the room Alwynne Arnold, famous news commentator, Kshe took over Walter W1nchell's programbg Dr. Richard Leavenworth, Dean of American History at Yale, and Maxine Miller, under Secretary of State, were deep in a political discussion. No party would be quite'complete with- out the next group, Dlbble, Allen and Woodard. Harold went to Hollywood and became famous for his supurb act1ngi?Din Metro's NI Slept Thru English Class.u Clair is a famous shortstop in probaseball now. He is still unmarried, and furthermore intends to stay that way! Bob is mayor of Rockstream which has expanded to include Glenora. It's a favorite spot for those who can't afford Florida. While we were waiting for the rest of the class to assemble, we were honored with a flute solo by Carol Jessop, who is now flute soloist with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. She sees quite a bit of that Prima Donna of the Metropolitan, Doris Brown, who was unable to attend because of an opera engagement. Esther Lamb, famous child psychologist, could be heard telling Mrs. Chub Woodard how to handle her five yearold twins, according to the book. It's quite a trick, but Alberta says when the book doesn't work, the paddle does. Just when we were beginning to wonder whether any one else was coming, Betty Berryman, who is studying fashions ln Paris, walked ln. She was immediately surrounded by Pearl Strait, Marion Hall and Waneta Travis, Soon after Betty's arrival, an airplane piloted by Ralph Hubble landed. He had flown Nancy Baker and Louise Kenyon in from Alaska, where they are raising silver fox. Also in the plane was Duane Earley whom they had picked up in Idaho where he is a forest ranger. As the door again opened to admit artist Ed Slocume and wife, the former Mabel Harris, the telephone rang. It was John Stanhope calling from Rio De Janiero, where he is on an engineering fob, to say that he would be unable to come. At this point we were all marshalled into the dining room to indulge ln a delicious spread concocted by our Home Ec. graduates Beulah Loss, Elsie Grace, and Shares King. Calvin Areford, Arthur Murrury's protege, Jimmy Wilcox, Mayor of Dundee, and Adraln La Fave, who runs a arrived with Shirley is the moment her Job when Howard is garage in Lakemont, mixed the drinks.
