Do you remember way back when most of us were going to the 'little red school house? 'Nhat a thrill our first year Kl9Z'J9H at D.G.S. was. Our class was first organized in l91iO when we were in the seventh grade. Orville Seyea was our first fresident and Mrs. Ylanhooft our class advisor. Barbara hall was our eighth grade President while hiss Lafler was our advisor. 'During these two years we made a little money with class dues and a great deal of fun learning to work as a class. During our four years in high school our motto has been to learn all we can, have all the fun we can, and to earn enough money for our Senior trip. We have gone far in accomplishing that aim. at least we have had our fun! our Freshman year was uneventful but during our Sophomore year we had two enjoyable parties. Our Christmas party was chaperoned by hrs. hart kour class, advisorl and hiss Lafler. That party may be remembered because of the dancing, or perhaps because of the grab bag we had, or was it because of the jolly games we played. we all remember our Sophomore picnics because of the Treasure Sox found and the mystery connected with it. lt seems Jean, Claudia, and 'feggy went exploring. They found twenty-f our boxes of zhocolatesl our Junior year was made lively with hiss hchane as advisor and John Deifmnn, ?resident. The Junior Prom was a grand success with music, eats, and festive decoration. Eleanor Campbell was crowned hay Queen. we sponsored two movies at the Dundee Theater. On open house night we, as Juniors, paraded on stage fashioning clothes of the later eighteenth centuries. ln June we held the Junior-Senior picnic at Watkins Glen. lt would be difficult for us to forget the howling good time we had, melted ice-cream, dripping hair, and drenched clothes helped to make this picnic the most unforgetful. The Seniors of AS gave a delightful banquet for us at the Jefferson hotel. V-Zishing them good-hye, we exchanged memorable gifts. The next week we worked hard decorating and preparing the auditoruim for their graduation. we have now gained our goal as Seniors and are looking forward to graduation and a Senior trip. we have had two bake sales. We served and prepared food, and did the dishes at the Banquet for the Re'oecca's. The Senior hall was held harch loth and was successful as for our Senior Trip! Only as you think of us all together out to have a grand time can you imagine the capers we out and the fun we have had. The place was beautifully decorated with blue and silver, our good old class colors. While we were waiting for our late arrivals the telephone rang and who should it be but Anold Lent, now married to Anna Mae Shrauger, and an Admiral in the U. S. Navy. He explained that he and his wife were just leaving for Europe with Ensign and Mrs. Bill Emmons, the former Evelyn Travis, and they would not be with us, Just then in walked Mr. and Mrs. DeMunn who had just come from Georgia. John is now coach at Georgia Tech and his wife, Alta Rose to us,keeps busy taking care of their family. When everyone was quiet once again Gabe Bellis, now sports reporter from the New York Tribune, told us about his meeting Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson at a baseball game not long ago. Roy is manager of the St. Louis Cardinals and his wife, the former Phyllis Green, acts as his secretary, He also told us about meeting Janet Peelle, now a famous dress designer in N. Y. C. and we were all surprised to hear that she was still single. ' The next arrival was Chester Kumerosky that famous scientist and of course his secretary'DorothW Bryant was with him. Chet demonstrat- ed one of his new inventions to us and much to his amazement he used to much sulfuric acid and it exploded. It was a good thing we had four nurses, Clarissa bymonds, nna Dlugosh, Arloine Morley and Virginia Woodard, who took care of Chet and soon we were back to normal. Of course there wasn't a dull moment during the meal with Dorla Rice relating her experiences as secretary to our N. Y. 5. Senator, Franklin Baker, and Jean Sistek describing her preparations for her wedding the following month. When we finished a delicious meal we were entertained by Luther Perkins and his famous orchestra, which was touring the country and just happened to be in Albany. Mrs. Perkins, the former Lucyna Bartuslak, is the soloist for her husbands' orchestra. We also were entertained by that famous singer of stage and radio, Joy Sullivan. In our midst was a very talented violinist, Eleanor Paddock, who now plays in the NBC Symphonic Orchestra. While the evening was still young Mrs. Raymond Millard, the former Hazel Lane, informed us thdzshe and Ray had to leave immediately by plane for their ranch in the West because they were having a terrible dust storm out there. Agnes Taylor also had to leave early because she was leaving the next day to take her place as a missionary in China. We wished them luck on their long journeys and again started relating past experiences. We were all surprised to hear that Jean Cadwell and Barbara Hall were still unmarried and teaching English and History respectively at Columbia University where they had graduated some time ago. Mrs. Patrick Sullivan, nee Claudia Symonds, is now manager of Iszard's Tea Room in Elmira Binge her sister got a higher position. We received the news from Washington from Mrs. Howell, the former Ida Mae Ribble, whose husband ls now Secretary of Agriculture. As Dolores Ward, now Homemaking teacher at Dundee and Dorothy Waugh, Business instructor, were telling us the latest gossip from our old home town, in popped Peggy Wilcox. She said that she got lost coming from Syracuse, where she teaches Math., but we all had our own ldeas. Before ending our gay celebration Maude Dencenburg and Shirley Emery told us of their exciting dates since they became secretaries to rich business men in N. Y. C. What a life! In 0l0SinS we BEDS our old school songs and after all the goodfbys' were said with great feeling we sang 'God Be With You Till We Meet Again ' Barbara Hall 18 X Resume , I ,K ml? The only thing we have done, so far, towards raising money is selling stationery and school pins. On January 18, the Junior homeroom put on the play nwho Murdered When for an assembly program. On April 4th and 5th we will present our Junior play NA Girl, A Guy, and A Gob.' We, also, hope to have a Junior Prom. Our class is well represented on the basketball teams. The Juniors on the Varsity Team are Tom Chadwick, Pat Sullivan, Leon Woodard, and Donald Brewer, Dick Lyle is the captain of the Junior Varsity Team.
