Perceptive association ol' these words with similar thoughts from other great poets gave us inspiration lor our theme. Oliver Weiiclell I-Iolmes said: Build thee more stately mansions, O my soul, as the swift seasons roll, and Dinah Maria Craik put it this way: Autumn to winter, winter into spring: spring into summer, sum- mer into fall - so rolls the changing year. and so we change! As the swift seasons roll. our students change. grow. mature, and pass on into adult life. The new coaching regime of John 'l'immerman and Ed Manchester met with reasonably encouraging results as Dundee finished the season with a four-won, three lost, and two-tied record and the Cards 2-3-l conference record was good for a filth-place birth in the rugged North Sub- urban League. Climax ol the season was a thrilling l5- 6 victory over highly regarded Libertyville. Dundee's lorivard wall held Libertyville at bay throughout the entire game, despite the lact that the Cardunals had live reg- ulars out with injuries. During tht' season Ed Young scored lour touchdoirzis. three in the 25-l2 victory over St. Edwa:wl's, to lead the team in scor- ing. Ed probably would have had a lot more had he :tot hurt his knee and 'been limited to passing lor over half the season. lo add to his lour 'il'D's.' Ed threw six more scoring passes. ' Ray Florine. 'l'om Andrews, and Roy XValters proved to be the hard luck guys on the team. All three were slated as start- ers on Coach 'l.llII1111CI'I1l2i11lS single wing. 1 . . xgn ejmw Wegimc but had to miss most of the season because of injuries. After the season was completed, the team elected Ed Young and Tom Brett- schneider co-captains, and Dick Mowen as the most valuable player. Mowen had prov- ed his versatility in the Wloodstock game when, moved from center to end, he caught the first two passes thrown to him lor touchdowns. At the close of the season Mowen. Young. llulie lmhoff, and Dick VVendt were named second-team all-conference, and Brettschneider was given honorable mention. Tinimernian will have several promis- ing .iuniors to work with next year. Ralph Rasmussen, this year's quarterback will head the list ol' returnees. along with jerry Young and Dave Geier who were in the middle ol' the Card defense most ol the year. 'l'hrough their representatives which they elect in home groups, they may express their opinions and state their prob- lems. The ollicers this year were: Phil Eick- holl, president: Norb Ritt, vice-president: Ginger Schuring, secretary: Craig Rakow, treasurer. Advisers were: Miss Keeler. Mr. Fraser. and Mr. Kiburz. Besides sponsoring dances, c h a r i t y drives, citizenship pins, honor awards and ribbons, and National Honor Society pins. the council undertook the project of de- signing a school flag and setting up a code of ethics. Ralph Rasmussen was elected to the Northeast-Northwest District o f lf i c e as treasurer. This is the first time anyone from the Dundee council has ever been elected to a district office. Illinois. a part of Community Unit School District 300 - is called the Car-Dun-Al, an original, hy- phenated name formed from the initial let- ters of Carpentersville, Dundee, and Algon- quin. the principal cities of the area. Although most staff members are sen- iors. some are from the other two classes. Under the direction of R. L. Moar, veteran sponsor. they do all of the planning, buy- ing. selling, editing, and typing necessary to the production of the book. The Alcardee Herald is a 4-page print- ed newspaper, also named from the initial letters of the districts 3 largest cities. and is published bi-weekly under the direction of Irma VVitm0re, long-time sponsor. l'his staff is also composed largely of seniors. We elected as our class officers: Jim VVilson, president: Joan Stanek, vice-presi- dent, Phil liickhoff, secretary: and Diane Baker, treasurer. The highlight ol' the year was our very successful class party. Ha- waiian Holiday. An added honor befell our class when it was announced Phil Eickhoff had been elected president of the student council. lt isn't very often that a junior attains that position. In the field of music and drama our class did quite well, by presenting a very successful play, One Foot ln Heaven, and having three of our class members. After recovering from the initial shock of the new and larger building and the fact that they were once again underclassnien, the sophomores came back to take second place in the honiecoining festivities. Early in the year Peter Edwards was elected class president with .lean VV0liigl'2llIl, vice-presidentg Janet Swanson, treasurerg and Mike Murphy, secretary. The Dundee nanie was carried further by sophomore athletes who played coni- plete football and basketball schedules in the North Suburban Conference and also participated in wrestling..
