MUAR Has taught English for 25 years, and science, chemistry, history, speech, debate for various periods of time, Directed dramatics, oratory for 18 years, debate 14 years, newspaper 4 years, yearbook 7 years, Led yells or supervised cheerleaders Z3 years: Conducted all pep programs for 23 yearsg Organized first pep club at DCHS in 1928, called The Red Peppers , Gave DCHS its school song 'lOn Dundee by composing the lyrics himself, using a melody written by a former student at Winslow, Ill., and with some assistance in musical arrangement from Mr. B. C. Mason. On committee with the late Alice Frankle and Mr. Iacobs worked out details of the First Citizenship program, Designed the citizenship pin using the twin towers of the front facade of the buildingg Originated the idea of the Richard Fink Memorial Award when Dick was tragically killed in 1939g Coached debate teams which won both sides of the Tri-State tourna- ment held at Rockford in 1939g Besides many district and sectional winners in oratory, coached one State Champion in oratory in 19335 Directed The Valiant, a one-act play which won First place in state contest in 1933g Directed a stylized version of Theatre Of The Soul which won first place in district and sectional contests, and placed one student on the All-State Cast in the State One-act Play Festival, held at Cham- paign in 19375 For years directed home-talent plays for the American Legion, Directed a pageant in Carpentersville Park, and a play in the high school for Dundee's Centennial in 1935g Secured, directed, or emceed 1'110St of the assembly programs for over 20 years, Outstanding former speech students in educational work: Robert Schlaifer, Harvard Universityg Stewart Rewoldt, University of Michi- gang Allan Tuttle, Valparaiso Universityg William Dikeman, Baker University. 5 .
