Uur leading Citi en One of the outstanding features of Dundee Community High School is its citizenship program, Consisting ol a point system checked privately each six-week term by each of eighteen different teachers for every one of some four hundred students, this program provides term, semester, and graduation awards based upon character, service, and conduct, and is one of the factors used annually to determine membership of graduates in the National Honor Society. It also played appropriate selec- tions tor the lunior and Senior plays, many assembly pro- grams, and the operetta, The Mocking Bird, which in- cluded dramatic and vocal talent as Well as instrumental. Practice period for the orchestra is every ninth hour. On a certain day during the Week the orchestra members have a music appreciation hour during which they listen to recordings of concertos, overtures, operas, and symphonies, provided tor them by Mr. Kratky's large and very valuable collection of album records. They also analyze and discuss various composers, their life Work and accomplishments, and study rhythm and types of musical scales. This year once again the seniors entered the auditorium to the strains of the traditional Onward Christian Soldiers by Arthur Sullivan, and also to the majestic Pomp and Chivalry at Commencement exercises. Bud made a total of 293 points to surpass Elmer Esh's record cf 253, In the St Charles game with the help cf his team mates, Bud was able tc score 50 points to beat the record cf 39, held by Bob Sirnonini. Other outstanding events of the season were: winning two practice games from Glenbard who was the West Suburban League Cham- pion, the final defeat of Waukegan, champions of the Suburkan league, defeating Arlington Heights, the North-West Conference cham- pions, defeating Decatur, the l945 State Champions, the defeat ct Quincy who was the champion of its league, and the final victory over East Rockford, champions of the Big Eight.
