MA Y C ANGES VISIBLE IN A GROWING DH Change seemed inevitable as it appeared to be the most noticeable difference at Duncanville High School. Bounds of construction filled the hazy late- summer air as the baseball field was expanded and the new junior high was under way through the generosity of the school district. The school board also permitted students the right to a smoking lounge for the first time in many years. A new system of registering for classes proved somewhat confusing as mobs of students descended upon helpless teachers, determined to unravel the mys- teries of computer print outs, new classes, and conflicting time periods. The clock was moved back as classes began at 8:I5 a.m. amidst yawns and grumbles, but students were rewarded with the dismissal time of Aw p.m. TOP RIGHT: During registration, Mr. Bush appears to be overwhelmed by the students requesting to enroll in his classes while an interested Mrs. Lavender looks on. BOTTOM LEFT:-As a new member of the High Hats, Cindy Hughes sports a hairstyle that includes the necessary ribbons for her initiation. BOTTOM RIGHT: Seniors Tim Henderson. Rusty Williams, and Robert Canino enjoy taking time out from government to pose in their official Duffer uniforms.

o ,ly I .gl 4,-f The increased enrollment of students led to an average of 2,420 students in daily attendence. A greater number of floating teachers braved packed halls to bring the staff to one hundred and thirty-three members. TOP LEFT: Seniors Tobey Hicks and Mark Harris consider the many suggestions made for class song, motto, flower, gift, and colors while Mrs. Simmons relaxes. TOP RIGHT: During their third period class Mike Pierce, .lohn Clayton. Mark DeSimone, Allen Decker, and Paul Schiffer work to get the assignment in on time. CENTER, Kathy Walsch, Kerri Clark, and Teresa Murphy concentrate their cre- ative talents on their art projects. BOTTOM LEFT: Senior Julie Kruckeberg listens in disbelief to an engrossing tale in her English class. BOTTOM RIGHT: One of the school's most ardent supporters, Coach Sandra Meadows enjoys the pep rally as the band plays 'Rocky'.
