LOUISE DEVANE the Senator Staff grate- fully dedicates this 1956 edition of the Senator. Especially known by the staccato of her walk and her proverbial handbag, Mrs. DeVane is beloved by all who have ever made it through that rugged freshman year. Aside from her teaching duties in ninth grade Civics, she has been involved in a myriad of activities behind the scenes at Fletcher. Also known for her tight grip on the ladders, she has kept the audio- visual program of the school well in hand and for a number of years had been the Northeaster faculty advisor and sponsor of the Quill and Scroll. Please take your proofs back to Deanes This is the last day! V' For over a year your Senator has been a dreamg now, it is a reality. To step back a few months and glance around the room in which your Senator was born we would find reams of paper strewn everywhere, the record player booming incessantly, cries of wheres a pencil or what in the world did you do with page 177!? , thousands of pictures, and the dummy-though a haggard bit of handiwork-beaming with pride that he was soon to be the father of another Senator. JEL' ui The Student Council at Fletcher is an organization of student representatives who are elected as a liason between student and faculty groups. Asid from their executive and congressional duties, the council proposes projects which this year have included: preparation for a parking lot, decoration for Home- coming, programs for athletic events, and a scrapbook and bulletin board of Fletcherls activities appearing in newspapers. Perhaps one of the most significant changes of the council this year is the formation of the Effective Living class. All the rep- resentatives are members and they have studied group proces- ses, the personality, personal and social problems, and every- thing connected with ordering their lives effectively. ...i--A 15 27 1 ,'f' J .' 1'9 3 I nf , i-.
