MORP, Winter classic are a ball The Senior Class hosted the annual Winter Ball, with the theme In My Dreams Silver and blue streamers wafted from the ceiling with matching balloons scattered across the dance floor. King candidates were Roger Rodriguez, Kevin Chavez, Michael Bejarano, and Gerald Gonzalez. Queen hopefuls were Kim Tyler, Susan Shay, Annie Morgan, and Tronie Horn. And the envelope please: Gerald and Tronie were crowned King and Queen. This year's Morp activities kicked off on Thursday, March 10, when girls bought their guys a stupid gift. On Friday, the girls pulled out their pocketbooks and treated their special someone to lunch at a place of their choice. The dance was held Saturday, March 12. The theme was Sea of Love , with decorations in a South Sea Islands motif. Jennifer Wilson and Sam Wagley were crowned Morp King and Queen. Traditionally, freshmen are chosen as Morp Royalty. Kathy Goyer receives a congratulatory hug after being named Miss Greenlee County. Right, contestants partici- pate n a pre-pageant fashion show Left. Kathy wd reign for a year as an official representative of Greenlee County (Thanks to Rena Short and The Copper Era for pogeant photos) Pageant contestants who attend DHS are: Lyanna Pena. Kathy Goyer. Tammy Ryther, Annie Morgan, and Kim Tyler. Kathy Goyer is Miss Greenlee For the first time since 1972, Greenlee County held a Miss Greenlee County Pageant. On February 6, young ladies from throughout the county competed, including five representatives from Duncan High School. These were Kathy Goyer, Lyanna Pena, Kim Tyler, Tammy Ryther, and Annie Morgan. Of eleven candidates, the top three finishers were from Duncan: Kathy Goyer was crowned Miss Greenlee County for 1988, with Kim Tyler first runner-up and Lyanna Pena second runner-up. In addition, Tammy Ryther was chosen by the other contestants as Miss Congeniality, and Annie Morgan received the non-finalist award in the talent portion of the pageant. Kathy, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Goyer. demonstrated her talent with a vocal presentation. She will represent Greenlee County during 1988 and will be a contestant in the Miss Arizona Pageant held during the summer in Phoenix.
