FOREWORD This year marks an event long to be remembered for the advent into Duncan High of the students of Virden High, a school which for many years was a friendly and worthy rival of the Wildkats. Proud to have our New Mexico friends with us, we of the annual staff take as our symbol the crossed arrows of friendship. It is our hope that friendship and good will may be the enduring cement to make the former Eagles and the-Wildkats a better school than either could have been alone, and we hope that the 1956 WILDKAT will be an accurate and pleasing record of this first year when we no longer say— Duncan vs. Virden.”

DEDICATION To Mr. H. T. Clothier we wish to dedicate the 1956 WILDKAT. For 26 years Mr. Clothier has given generously of his time, strength, and wisdom to the guidance of Duncan High students. His friendly concern for the progress of each of his students; his skilled and patient training in commerce, art, tennis, volleyball, and in the fine arts of living and working to the best of one’s ability —these have placed him securely in the hearts of all the Wildkats. We see him playing and singing with the Coronadians, sharing his chickenlore with the 4-H and F. F. A., sitting with the town council—and to a real Wildkat we say thank you, Mr. Clothier. We shall never forget you.
