B DIVISION 4 BUDDHA The vital task of providing power to get the ship underway is entrusted to the capable men of IVl8rB Divisions. The boilermen of B Division perform their half of a coordinated effort by producing the steam needed in the main engines for propulsion, the turbo generators for electrical power, and the auxiliary equipment for associated jobs. The major part of his responsibility lies in the proper storage, replenishment, use and testing of ship's fuel and care of the sensitive boiler tubes within which the steam is generated. Doing a critically essential job under the least amiable conditions ofheat and dirt entitle the boilerman to membership in that proverbially elite group known as snipes .
