WEAPGNS OFFICERS A Weapons Department on any gun ship is certain to play an important role. Just how important can be suggested by a couple of statistics: Duncan on this cruise fired 5,148 rounds from its mounts-a total firepower of 141.6 tons of ordnance expended against the enemy. But important as these statistics are, the vital ingredient remains the human element provided by the five officers and 66 men of Weapons. The following pages try to recapture this human side. i 1 LTJG Brady LTJ G W.P. Pierce 2nd Division 1st Lieutenant t E E LT A.L. Pease, Weapons Boss STC D.L.. Culp, Weapons Chief LTJG DZW- Bishop LTJG R.s. Gibson Fox Division 1st Division Wg!

The deck force handles any evolution which requires back-breaking labor and tireless manpower. When a man becomes a boatswain's mate, he knows work and he knows men.
