CHARLES BERNARD BROWN C harles, better known as “Birdinan,” has been a member of the track team, the basketball team, F.F. A., and many other clubs. He is the reporter for his homeroom class. Because of his interest in history, he plans to become a history teacher. WILLIAM LEWIS CLINDING During “Ding Ding’s” or “Moot’s” four years at Dunbar he has been Vice-President of his class, Vice-President of his 703 and 704 Agriculture classes, and an outstanding football player. His ambition is to become a professional footbaU player. PHYLLIS COCKERELL Because of “Phil’s” interest in typing and sewing, she is an active member of the F.B.L.A., and F.H.A. She has also participated in the Library Club, Safety Patrol, Math Club, and the Dramatics Club. She is a member of the yearbook staff and an officer of the senior class. Her ambition is to become an electronic computer machine operator. JAMES EDWARD FETHERSON During “Ed’s” four years in high school, he has partic¬ ipated in the Future Farmers of America and has been a member of the Distributed Education Club. His interests are bowling and swimming. His greatest ambition is to become a machinist. ROBERT LOUIS FOSTER During Robert’s or “Dit Dit’s” four years at Dunbar, he has been a member of the Future Farmers of America, the Distributive Education class and other clubs. His hobbies include participating in various sports. He would like to join the Marines after graduation. DEEORIS ELEASE FOXX During her high school days, she has been an active mem¬ ber of the Glee Club and Captain of the Cheering Squad. “Foxie” is also a member of the F.B.L.A., F.H.A., the band, and the Dramatics Club. She has served as a class officer for two years. Her ambition is to become a sec¬ retary. 21

RUBY ARCHIE Besides being an active member of the French Club, Dra¬ matics Club, F.H.A., F.B.L.A., Math Club and Safety Patrol Club, “Candy” also participates in Project Upward Bound, a program for college bound students. She is the corresponding secretary for the annual staff. Her ambi¬ tion is to become an elementary school teacher. LYNDA GALE BANKS Lynda, better known as “Banks”, participates in the D.E.C.A. Club, Cheering Squad, Dramatics Club, F.H.A., and F.B.L.A. Club. Her ambition is to become a general office clerk. LARRY BEATTY Larry, better known as “Rock”, is an active member of the D.E.C.A. and F.F.A. Clubs. His ambition is to some¬ day become the proprietor of a business. BARBARA JOYCE BLACKWELL “Jois”, Secretary of the Safety Patrol Club was initiated into the Future Business Leaders of America and Future Homemakers of America Clubs this year. She also partic¬ ipates in the Band and Dramatics Club. Her pastimes are dancing and cooking. Her ambition is to become a cos¬ metologist. ROBERT LARRY BLAIR Displaying school spirit, Robert aids the track team as manager and actively serves in the F.F.A. Club. He en¬ joys such sports as football, baseball and basketball, with exxraordinary skills in the game of billiards. He like s to be called “Blair”. His ambition is to become a painter. BETTY JANE BOLT Betty, is a representative to the Student Council, a mem¬ ber of the Dramatics, Safety Patrol, F.H.A., Math, and F.B.L.A. Clubs. She also serves in a member of the Choir, Band, and the Bar Staff. Besides holding class and club offices during her high school years, she is also an honor student. This year she was named Betty Crocker Home¬ maker of Tomorrow. Her ambition is to become an IBM keypunch operator. She is better known to her friends as “Red” 20

DAVID LEE GETER In addition to being a member of the F.F.A. and the Glee Club, he is also a devoted member of the track team. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, hunting, and cooking. His ambition is to become an elementary teacher. EINDA GIBSON Linda Gibson, better known as “Gip”, is an active mem¬ ber in various clubs. In previous years she was Vice-Pres¬ ident of the D.E.C.A., Vice-President of her homeroom, and assistant secretary of the F.H.A. Her ambition is to become a clerk typist. RITA GLADDEN During Rita’s high school days she has been a devoted worker for the D.E.C.A. In her spare time she enjoys dancing. Her ambition is to become a beautician. GAIL ELAINE HARRIS Gail served her school as a member of the F.H.A., F.B.- L.A., Dramatics Club, Math Club, Safety Patrol, and the band. She was a class officer in her freshman class, a waitress for the Junior-Senior Prom, a Junior Marshal, a typist for the yearbook, and a school representative to Tar Heel Girls’ State at U.N.C.G. She is also an honor roll student. Her greatest ambition is to become an elec¬ tronic computer operator. LARRY HEARNE Besides being an active member in the Vocational Ag Class, Larry is a member of the Math Club, Safety Patrol, Dramatics Club, and the track team. His ambition is to become a commercial artist. HATTIE MAE HUFF “Sam” is a member of the F.H.A., Dramatics Club, and the Glee Club. She divides her spare time among sewing, cooking, and collecting articles on famous people. Her ambition is to become a nurse. 22 I
