The year 1966-67 has been well filled, for students at D.H.S. were kept busy with classes, teachers, studying, and extra¬ curricular activities. All these activities play an important role in making school days --happy days. CONTENTS Dedication Administration Seniors Underclassmen Academics Activities Around Campus Snapshots Patrons Advertisements 3 DEDICATION Please people! A hectic music class often brought this state¬ ment from a person to whom students owe gratitude and affection. He, with the help of his three C’s, has been able to tolerate off step marchers, off tune singers and discordant notes from in¬ struments. Due to his excellent music instruction, he has helped to bring many musical honors to our school. His genuine friend¬ ship, his gentlemanly deportment, and his wise counseling have made him respected and admired by all who have been privileged to know him. For these attributes and the many others- we sincerely and gratefully dedicate the 1967 TIGERS BAR to . . . Mr. R. L. Himt 4 ADMINISTRATION PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE I would like to congratulate all of the staff members and other personnel who helped to make another successful publication of our traditional Yearbook—’’The Tigers Bar”. I would like to remind the graduating class of 1967 that the attention of the general public will be focused on you—the spotlight is on you. Today ' s fast-changing world makes unprecedented demands on your intelligence, knowledge, and elegant maturity asyouenter the arena of new experience. You must put into practice those basic prin¬ ciples that we have tried to impart here at Dunbar—you must practice moral and ethical standards, live up to your religious obligation, get along with your fellowman, and be honest and loyal in your everyday efforts. Let us not forget the power of character. If you want to be happy, successful, influential and useful, you can do so by having a strong character. In my final statement to you, I would like to remind you that no one has ever been honored for what he received, but honor and reward come to those who give. 6 OFFICE STAFF Mrs. Doris McElhaney, Secretary DUNBAR P.T.A. LANGUAGE ARTS When Sophomores begin saying Friends, Romans,.. We know that Julius Caesar is mighty yet! And Juniors study Sandburg, Frost, Wilder—and those grandiloquent vo¬ cabulary words. Seniors struggle with parallel structure, Ivanhoe, and Chaucer and find how much there really is to this subject called English. Miss M. Littlejohn Mrs. M. White , Mrs. L. B. Davis i ' ( j French nasal sounds, so strange to first year students, initiation, la or le before every noun. The Fable of The Fox and the Crow, hearing our voices on the tape recorder, and Mrs. Davis forever having to keep us quiet—these are things we remember about French. I ' l Mrs. W. P. New words are learned—balance, sublimation, and cutie-pie, an actual scientific team! 7 Mrs. C. Pharr SOCIAL STUDIES t I Miss R. Rivens CIVICS teaches the duties of all citizens. WORLD HISTORY with projects and term papers is a subject we all take. We learn of old empires, development of trade, the New World, religions, and the countries of today. In UNITED STATES HISTORY separate notebooks are kept. Notes, notes, notes! ECONOMICS teaches us the way our country is run financially. Sometimes we feel our leaders would like to know this too I GEOGRAPHY helps us gain a sympathetic understand¬ ing of, and respect for the conditions and problems of the peopleof other countries, and helps us get the point of view of foreign peoples.
