ilA SCIENCES I I In General science we learn about weath¬ er, machines, atoms, types of energy and water. The subject matter is based on the everyday activities of boys and girls. Biology has a special place in the hearts of those who love to dissect animals. The classification of animals, plants and protists gives a headache to quite a few. In chemistry we wonder why the building still stands. New words are learned-valence, sublimation, ionization and precipitation. Physics, with its problems, as well as homework and vector quantity, is quite an experience. Incidentally, a multitude of pro¬ cesses of physics plays an important part in your life and influences you in many ways. 16

MATHEMATICS General Mathematics is planned to help students achieve two objectives: 1. To develop the ability to perform the fundamental operations in mathema¬ tics with a high degree of accuracy. 2. To stimulate interest in the subject matter and uses of mathematics. Algebra One 1. To prepare the students for further study in mathematics and to develop confidence in his ability to pursue such study. In Algebra II we develop new mathematical concepts as reasonable and useful extensions of previous work in arithmetic and elementary Algebra. Geometry enters into practically every¬ thing about us in our daily life - a knowledge of it is of importance to anyone who wishes to progress in a trade or profession and it gives us an opportunity of learning to appreciate and enjoy the nicer things of life.
