? DIRECTING SCHOOL AFFAIRS PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE ’’Look well to this day!” This is my exhortation to you seniors of 1964. As I sincerely con¬ gratulate you, I also earnestly challenge you. Search well this day and salvage from your journey here the good, the true, the real. For, my friends, we live in a very demanding age, an era seeking nothing short of the best. Avail yourselves of the opportunities and possibilities of this day. Carefully seek to bypass those experiences of doubt of squandering time. Begin now.Live to the height, breath, and depth of your being. Live fully! Open wide the windows of your souls and drink deeply from every noble experience and re¬ main active in the school of creating living. Keep sharpened the capacity to love the good, the beautiful, to understand and appreciate your fellow travelers. Cultivate the desire to be the best. There is no real master requirements. You only begin to build muscles of nobility when you strive to do more than that which is required. Create of life a quality and quantity beyond what is expected. Whatever your endeavor in life, do not be afraid of honest toil, of keen competition, for of such stuff the great tests are made. ”Our main business”, our late President, J.F. Kennedy re¬ minds us, ’’istoasknot what our country can do for us, but ask what we can do for our country.” Look well, therefore, to this day! My sincere best wishes to each of you. Ezra C. Gilliam, Principal 8
