For the first time in ten years, Dumont girls had a basketball team Gethng a late start dxd not lessen the spxnts of the gurls Prac tice dld not begln unhl December The first game with Bristow showed great posslbxlxtxes The girls lost this game Z9 28. Considering thxs was Brxstow's eighth game, xnexperxence caused the loss for Dumont. Wxth a holdover of all but two players for next year great possibilities may develop. If the gxrls show the same improvement next year that has been evident this year, they should hold their own with most average teams. Seldom has been seen such eagerness to learn and play as has been shown by this group Both Mr. McKinley and Mr. Dodd worked with the girls during the short season. Best of luck next year, girls, and keep up that wonderful fight and willing ness to learn so needed by a good basketball team. CHEERLEADERS Kathaleen Malfeld Gertrude Stubbe Beverly Millar The cheermg at Dumont s athletic events thxs year 'aa capably handled xn semor high by Lida Harlan, Kathleen Miller and Ardxth Faber, in Junior hxgh by Gertrude Stubbe Kathaleen Maxfeld and Beverly Mxller The selectlon of senior hugh cheerleaders was made by the student body At an assembly held in October, the student! who were lnterested ln the posltxons demonstrated their ability and the three 'ughest from a vote of the student body were given the positions The girls appeared at the athletic events and traveled to many out of town contests :rec VI I I: Kathleen Miller, Lida Harlan, Ardlth Faber , ' - -vw 1 'fli , R Af ' - . ,. ...
