DEFARTMENTS Se: DTVTSTONS THE left San Diego on December 6, 2004 on WestPac. From San Diego we stopped in Hawaii for 3 days. Then we headed west for Guam when a tsunami engulfed the nations of southwest Asia on December 26, 2004. We raced across the ocean to Sri Lanka to provide humanitarian aid and disaster relief for the people of Sri Lanka and Sumatra. We then headed straight for the North Arabian Gulf where we spent weeks conducting maritime security operations. DULUTH also acted as an Afloat Forward Staging Base providing hot meals for the Sailors stationed on the platforms for security. While in the North Arabian Gulf, the crew enjoyed liberty in Bahrain where the popular purchases were gold and hand-made suits. On the way home we stopped in Cairns, Australia where the crew enjoyed 5 days of liberty snorkling, rafting, and just relaxing. The deployment ended with another 3 days in Hawaii to pick up the Tigers, friends and family who rode the ship back to San Diego. The Marines offloaded at Camp Pendleton via LCAC and LCU and on Iune 6, 2005 we headed for home where we were warmly welcomed by our loved ones and friends. - ' ' ' ' 'f ' ' - f - - - --- A,...,.,,.-.ft-.K--s....,..,.ucv . -. . ,. .f ,,,..,.--..-..-.L...,....e,2g...n . ,Win -' -i-.....- - .. e.L,...c.,: ' x, : - V 3-.. .:-.,ae-...,....-...iff...c-.....f.1,...,.,,,...Y -- .. .. . .. . v . ...im ..
