OCEAN ST URM Winds that howl in the night, Neither land nor vessel is in sight, Chills men's souls, and gives 'em fright Heavy weather's ahead. Swells pick up, the hard rains fall, UNo hands topside is the call. Secure for sea one and all. A storm's a sailor's dread. Lightning flashed, thunder rolls. Fascination churns men's souls. ln the distance they hear the knolls, As storms past claim their dead. For sailors new the strain is great, But even salts anticipate, When this weather they've grown to hate Will have passed instead. The constant rolling of the ship, Through each trough the bow will dip. Along the decks things slide and slip. No one can sleep in bed. Finally the storm has passed. God stretched out His hand at last, And calmed the winds in the mast. The sky's a pretty red. So's our life one must confess, Tossed about by selfishness, 'Till His ways we finally stress, Then blessing's on our head. lVI.L.Beach .
