Captain Kenneth R. Barry was born in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation from Yale University in 1960, he was commissioned in the Navy. After commissioning he served as Damage Control Assistant on USS Marshall CDD-676j. He then served successive tours as Engineering Officer on USS Hanson CDD-832D and USS jenkins CDD-4475. In 1967, after Defense Intelligence School, Captain Barry was assigned to Headquarters North American Air Defense Command. In 1969, he returned to sea on the Staff of Commander Cruiser Destroyer Flotila Seven as Flag Secretary. He then became Executive Officer USS Forrest Sherman CDD-931j. In 1973, after a year of language study, he served as Assistant Naval Attache, American Embassy, Helsinki Finland. From 1975 to 1977 he served as Executive Officer on USS England CCG-22j. From 1978 to 1981 he served successive tours as Commanding Officer, USS Agerhlom QDD-826D and USS Fort Fisher QLSD-409. In 1981, he was assigned as Chief Staff Officer, Commander Amphibious Squadron Three. He reported from duty as Chief of Staff, Commander Amphibious Group One. Captain Barry's awards and decorations include the joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Battle Efficiency Ribbon. His two children, Kenneth and Stephanie, attend the University of Southern California. Hood Master Chief Sonar Technician Robert A. Hood enlisted in the Army Reserve in November, 1955. He joined the Navy in january, 1958 and attended Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Master Chief Hood's first duty station was the USS Hunt CDD-647D, homeported in New Port, Rhode Island. In April, 1962, he reported for duty at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.AHe was stationed at Fleet Sonar School, Key West, Florida, from February 1964 until April 1966. Master Chief Hood was then assigned to the USS Van Voorhis QDE-1028j, New Port, Rhode Island. Injuly 1967 Master Chief Hood began a three year tour at USN-MCRTC, Columbia, South Carolina. In March of 1970, he reported to the USS Damato CDD-871D as Leading Chief Sonarman until September, when reassigned to the USS Vesole CDD-878D Charleston, South Carolina, until October, 1974. Upon completion of this assignment he reported to the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center Pacific, San Diego, California, until October, 1978. He then reported to CTG 168.1 CPACFASTQ Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Completing a three year tour, Master Chief Hood returned to the Fleet Anti Submarine Warfare Training Center Pacific, until October, 1984, when he was assigned to the USS Duluth CLPD-63 where he presently serves as Command Master Chief. Master Chief Hood is married to the former Glenda Rhodes of Bossier City, Louisiana.
