. 5 'lf' - ---- i'hL'i.,-r...'f,. r I it COMMA ASTER CHIEF Master Chief Boatswain's Mate Beahm enlisted in the Naval Reserve in October, 1960, and attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California. Master Chief Beahm's first duty station was the USS WASH- TIENAW COUNTY CLST-1166j, homeported in Yokosuka, japan. In February, 1964, he reported for duty at Naval Station, Adak, Alaska. He was stationed on the USS CHE- MUNG CAO-50D from March, 1965, until june of that year. Master Chief Beahm was then assigned to the pre-commis- sioning crew of the USS DULUTH QLPD-65. In january, 1969, Master Chief Beahm began a three year tour at Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California, as a Recruit Company Commander. In March of 1972 he re- ported to the USS KING CDLG-10j, and assumed the duties of ship's Bos'n and,Chief Master at Arms. Master Chief Beahm reported to the USS O'CALLAHAN QDE-1051j in july, 1974, where he also served as ship's Bos'n and Chief Master at Arms. In August of 1976, he returned to Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California, for his second tour of duty there as a Recruit Company Commander. Upon completion of this assignment, Master Chief Beahm attended Naval Amphibious School in Coronado, California. In April, 1980, he reported for his second duty assignment on the USS DULUTH QLPD-61, where he presently serves as Command Master Chief. Lieutenant Commander Robert Glenn Handlers ,..-,w,,x. , Lieutenant Commander Robert Glenn Handlers was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in August of 1947.VHe joined the NROTC program at Penn State University in 1965 and was commissioned an Ensign upon graduation in 1969. y g ' 1 LCDR Handlers was assigned as Gunnery Officer and Anti-submarine Warfareofficer aboard USS Dupont CDD-941D from january 1970 until june 1972. He was then transferred to the ,Navy Destroyer Schoolin Newport, Rhode Island, as at student until February 1973. His next assignment- was Weapons Officer of USS Blandy QDDA-943D until january 6, 1975, where he was transferred to the Naval Post Graduate School, Ivlonterey, California, where he earned a Master of Science Degree in:Oceanogra- phy. In September 1977, LCDR Handlersreported aboard USS Shasta CAE-335 as Engineering Officer until November 1978. I 1 , . V From,December 1978, until june 1982, he served on the staff of Commander, Naval Forces Japan as Assistant Special Projects Officer and japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Liason Officer. After attending Prospective Executive Officer School, LCDR Handlers reported togUSS Duluth CLPD-6D as Executive Officer in September of 1982 .,,p LCDR Handlers, awards include the Navy Com- mendation Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, ,Bat- tle Efficiency Ribbon, National Defense Medal and Sea Service, Ribbon. e , . , .
