' . John Foster Dulles High School Band The 1965 Dulles Band, under the direction of I. D. Gary, achieved its greatest success this year in a new division, when it entered Region V. AAA competition. In three areas of the regional contests, Marching, Sight Reading, and Concert, the band was awarded two first places and one third place. The Dulles Band won a third place in the open classification of the Bluebonnet Bowl Marching Contest in December. Because of its standing in the regional contests, the Viking Band was eligible for the 1965 Six Flags Invitational Band Festival competition. The band received a third place among the fifty top bands from Texas, Arkansas. Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
