Perhaps it is the consistency in architectural style which lends each campus an air of unity and a distinctiveness of its own. Yet in our walks, our insistence on traveling the shortest distance between two points and wearing paths across the quad, the architecture around us becomes a familiarity un- noticed. Now and then a new viewpoint can again waken us to the sharp outlines of a Gothic tower, the tranquillity of an East Campus facade.

$102,876,000: an addition to the Main Library, more than doubling its present capacity; a Chemistry Building, Arts Center, a phytotron, an Emperor Tan- dem Accelerator, renovation of classrooms; a Wom- an ' s College dormitory, and Student Center, two men ' s dormitories; a College of Engineering Build- ing, Medical Center teaching unit, and new hospital; expansion of the Divinity School and Marine Labora- tory; roads, parking lots, heating plants, renovations, more buildings.
