Spring fever But the spring fever didn ' t afflict all . . . the picketers (even the University profs joined the fun) kept up steady dissent . . . the engineers slaved up to the last minute on the Show. High school students descended onto the campus, vying for Angier Duke scholarships . . . others came to take in the scenery (nuisance!) as Duke once again became the country club of the South. Golfers came to life . . . class attendance lowered. Other major events included George London s concert . . . productions of St. Joan and J.B. . . . Glee Club, Band, and Symphony concerts . . . Parents Weekend . . . publication of a new bulletin, Unofficial Guide to Courses for Upperclassmen, with remarks such as Lectures uncomprehensible not fully appreciated by victim. Girls received a special welcome to the Ensineer ' s Show. lisjhtning.

Spring horseplay — pelting the Pest. The Undergraduate Reading Room loses its attraction. W m Spring. . spring came bombing in . . . pledges went through hell . . . studying (? ) moved outdoors . . . a plague of spring fever swept the campus — even the East caravan couldn ' t arouse much excitement — desegregation caused little more than a ripple in the student consciousness . . .

Scholars and politicians reaped rewards . . . new leaders took the reins of campus (ever guided by our wise administration) . . . Duke had an all-time high with 19 Woodrow Wilson scholars. ' ' All work and no play ... you know — so the Null and Void rounded out hardworking students. And then Fort Lauderdale contributed its share of the fun (if you consider a night in jail fun) . . . and TV viewers witnessed a Duke co-ed ' s skill at chugging brew. ENTERING r- politiki; ' If I ' m elected — beer in the cafeteria and women in the rooms. Void now — Null later ' : L FORT LAUDERDALE HAVE FUN Welcome, Billy Graliam!
