IN DUKE The King of the Underworld abandons his realm, the better to support the Blue Devil Team. • • • FOOTBALL SEASON ' . Devil and Kam lock horns as Duke and N. C. battle. The Big Blue looked good in pre-season polls . . . and then seeined to be living up to Duke ' s hopes . . . five straight wins . . . but then a tie with State, a loss to Tech, and a tie with Navy ... a close decision over Clem- son . . . the UNC game . . . apprehension . . . hope . . . faith ... a one touch- down lead going into the third quarter . . . but in the end, a loss . . . still the Orange Bowl bid and a chance at mighty Okla- homa . . . Miami . . . beautiful weather . . . Smilin ' Bill ' s new strategy . . . and again, optimism . . . three quarters of pretty good ball . . . the fourth quarter and dis- aster . . . not the best season . . . but not the worst either. 22
