A., THE NEW DUKE CAMPUS AS SEEN FROM THE MEDICAL BUILDING I The Greater Duke University We, the members of the university community, have had ever before us in the last few eventful years a picture of the Greater Duke University. Long before we as a whole had the picture, it was formed as a humanitarian dream in the minds of a few leaders. After having been sketched as an educational ideal, it was given dimen- sional form by one of its creators. We, who have lived in that dream, who have seen that sketch, who have been surrounded by the mighty construction of that picture, have perhaps suffered in our appreciation by lack of perspective. The half-formed details, the raw, unfinished aspect of a gigantic achievement in the making, have blinded us partially to' the beauty of that first dream. But, at last, our picture stands before us, save for the finishing touches, breath-taking in its loveliness and perfect in its symmetry. There remains but one achievement yet before us, before the Greater Duke University shall be. VVe ourselves must become part of the picture, for the university, like all works of art, is spiritual.
