EDICAL DEPART The Medical Department started the deployment with a C-1 in medical readiness, receiving accolades during all phases of inspections and training. Throughout the cruise, the medical department continued to excell. Highlights of the cruise included: the Medical Officer and HMC taking first place in the pipe patching and stretcher race competitions during the first shipboard Profes- sional Olympics, HMC Brockman was the first on the deployment to earn the Enlisted Surface Warfare designation, HM2 Allen became the father of a 8 lb. 10 oz. baby girl, and HM2 Weaver began the cruise as Sailor of the Quarter. During the first five months of the deployment, the 'Docs' logged 4,361 out-patient visits. I LT STEVE vin N L.
