MGA , 'iii-if 'iron The Air Department is a close knit, professional team that works together to ensure the safe and efficient transport and landing of troops, essential equipment and supplies by means of helicopter. Under the watchful eye of the Air Boss and the careful supervision of the flight deck officer, these men in their colorful jerseys control the flight deck during all flight operations. The crew consists of our yellow jerseyed Landing Signalman Enlisted who directs the aircraft crew, blue shirted Chock and Chain men who secure the aircraft to the deck, and purple shirts of the refueling team that respond to a signal for fuel as the rotors continue to turn to reduce delay. Waiting in the background is the skillful, well- trained red-shirted Crash and Salvage team staying alert to the ever-possible threat of catastrophe, and finally the greenshirts, the Ground Support Equipment Operators, awaiting the need to man Tilley the crash crane, in the event of an accident, confident their equipment will perform efficiently if needed. The fast tempo of operations require team work and professionalism of every man associated with the aviation evolution in order to meet all possible contingencies in a safe and expeditious manner. HOWELL COMMAND MASTER-AT-ARMS Besides being a spiritual leader, Chap- lain Pope put together informational port guides for every port visited, organized the overwelmingly successful humanitar- ian project at the Longos Elementary School in the Philippines and Operation Handclasp drive, and a very entertaining Talent Extravaganza, all in addition to maintaining the much enjoyed library and providing Divine Services every Week. The Master Chief of the Command is the one you can go to if you have a work-relat- ed problem or just go to get in on some old sea stories about how the Navy Was. Master Chief Wright is also the man re- sponsible for setting up the DUBUQUE's participation in the Adopt a School pro- gram, and those infamous I Divisions. The Master-at-Arms - well, no town, floating or not, would be complete without a town sherriff, and that is exactly what the Master-at-Arms does - keeps law and order aboard the DUBUQUE. ww .mm ... , . .
