El After something is taken from us, we become aware of the great influence it had on our lives. School has molded our personalities and character, prepared us for jobs, and taught us how to enjoy ourselves. Who can forget the excitement of our last Homecoming? The secret planning of our potential prizewinning float, the anticipation 'til one of our classmates was named Homecom- ing Queen and the big game will remain stamped on our memory. Before we realized, the Variety Show was history and we were working feverishly to meet our Echo and News deadlines. Sandwiched between homework, jobs and club meet- ings were games, school plays, contests and concerts. Can you remember the unusual quiet when the names of the newly elected members of the National Honor Society and Quill and Scroll were announced? While being measured for our cap and gown, many of us wondered if we had chosen the right job or college. But never shedding the prestige of being a senior, we planned our ban- quet, polished up our parts in the clas play and enjoyed ourselves at the Prom. Signing their last Echo are Duane Christopherson, Anna Cooley, Jane C-ronau, Ruth Brockert and Bruce Schwaegler. page tzeclzf CALVIN ADAMS Ticket Campaign l, 2, 33 Churus B 33 Librarian 1, 2: Class Play Cummit- tee 3: Audio-visual Operatur 3. E Plunging deeper into the many activities offered at Sen- ior highlighted our junior year. Our boys met the challenge of competition and many held down varsity positions on Sen- ior's teams. Active participa- tion in the speech and music departments also increased. Graduated from the bal- cony, as juniors we rated as- sembly seats on the main floor. Many of us were counting pen- nies 'till our class rings, im- printed with the seal of Senior, arrived. The spring school elections featured us, for the candidates for Student Council President and Boys' State are exclusively juniors. Our first chance for election into National Honor S0- ciety came at the end of this year. How can we hide the fences? became the paramount question in the minds of many as the time for our class project, the junior-Senior Prom, arrived. With the seniors as guests, we staged a gala ball. As graduation time approached juniors were busy ushering and decorating for the Com- mencement exercises, anticipating the time when we too would be seniors. -jcanette Albert Thor Anderson Joyce Bailey Gerald Ez-leer Joyce Barrett Merlin Barrels Ruth Eaumhover page tl11'1'Iy-two ....',2', 1 ff 704 J 40 as 36 if UQ G09 gm 1 'Db 'ln 1-J. Mechanical drawing students make ex- tensive use of the blueprint development and reproduction equipment. ln the auto mechan- ics department, a wash and grease rack and several tool racks have been installed. Lathes, welding machines and drill presses equip the machine shop. Each department has ample storage space. fdglc' Ulflllfj 0 L 'iff Highlighting the l954-55 school year was the November I2 dedication of the gymna- sium and technical school building. Both students and the public toured the new building during open house. The most obvious feature of the gym is the increased seating capacity, now 3700. Physical education and team locker rooms accommodate 650 boys. Other new features are the drying room, storage room and first aid room, equipped with heating lamps, massage tables and a whirlpool bath. Senior backers were not forgotten as a 350-car parking lot also opened for use. Construction on the buildings began August l952 and was completed in I954g total cost of the addition was Sl,088,267.
