Class Hlstor On September 2 1956 fifty six anxious but green freshmcn wandered into the halls of Dubois High School to see what might be accomplished Our faculty consisted of Mr A J Krertzer Principal Mr Ralph Seger Coach Commerce Mrs Lula Seger Home Economics Mr Henry Seger English Mr Elmer Zehr Social Studies Mr Paul Philltps Math Shop Mr Richard Kemper Music Mr Kenneth Riley Commerce and Mr Aaron Parks Voc Agriculture Mr Riley was our class sponsor and our class officers were as follows President LaVerne Mehringer Vice President David Hentrup Secretary Ruth Bonifer Treasurer Janet Hall and Reporters Patricia Knies and Madge Huebner Ruth Bourfer and Dennis Cave were Carnival King and Queen candidates LaVerne Mehrtnger and Ruth Bonifer were chosen as queen attendants Glenn Meyer and Delm Euhrman represented Homemaking Award Manfred Gromminge 1 student from Germ classmates left during tl ln the fall of 57 me and Jerome Nordoff had t Mr Phillips was our c Meyer Secretary Margar Queen attendants wer Knies and Benny P Georgia Lea Z1 gler IO Olll' Sf OU HSOI C tak and Suzanna Angerer went to the s The faculty remained the same exct Mr Kenneth Riley lan Maurice Blume Eugene Burke lxilliam Kalb and Geraldine Merchand The faculty remarried the same as the pre Mr Henry Seger was our class sponsor and o t President Edgar Schepers Secretary Margaret i in the Algebra contest Margaret Harder won the ster with us Barbara Silverthorne another of our tba Angerer Shirley Bair David Hentrup dent Edgar Schepers V1ce President Glenn val King and Queen candidates were Patricia Krodel l-rances Freyberger Glenn Meyer d Mrs Lula Seger and Mr John Lyons replaced iler Janet Hasenour Maurlce Hopf Nettie Mae rsted of President Glenn Meyer V1ce er Delmar Fuhrman Georgia Lea Ziegler was again cheerleader Queen atter-aants were LaVerne Mehringer and Nancy McBr1de LaVerne Mehrmger and Edgar Sch pers were Carnival King and Queen Under the direction of Mr A J Kreitzer we presented our Junior Class Play DEADLY EARNEST During our Junior year we sold magazines under the Curtis Plan and set a new hrgh sales record Delmar Fuhrman and Glenn Meyer represented Dubois High School at Boys State at Indiana University during C SllfTllTlt.l' lxhen in the fall of 58 we entered the halls of D H S as seniors we took a look around us and found the o lov ing faculty changes Miss Marilyn Martin had replaced Mrs Wilma Beckmann and Mr Howard Anderson had replaced Mr Lyons Mr Elmer Zehr was our class sponsor Class officers were President Delmar Fuhrman Vice President -Glenn Meyer Secretary Georgia Lea Ziegler and Treasurer Janet Hall We are sorry to have lost LaVerne Mehringer during the year but are glad that we gained Thomas Ftckas Georgia Lea Ziegler was again chosen as the yell leader from our class On October 25 the nineteen senior band members accompanied the band to I U in observance of High School Band Day Delmar Euhrman a fellow senior was the drum major for the year Eugene Kieffner was elected as editor of the Jeep Echo and Glenn Meyer and Delmar Fuhrman were co editors of the Echo On October 30 and 31 Mr Henry Seger directed our Senior Class Play THE MAGIC TOUCH On December 12 Pat Kntes reigned as basketball queen with Ruth Bontfer and Janet Hall as her attendants At the annual Huntingburg Christmas Festival Nancy McBride represented Dubois High School On December 1 Margaret Harder represented us at Huntingburg in the D A R Good Citizenship Contest Senior members of the Beta Club again emoyed the Ice Folltes at Roberts Stadium in Evansville The closing events of the school year were the Junior Senior Banquet on Aprtl 28 and Baccalaureate Services on May 3 This was followed by the Commencement on May 6 at which time Glenn Meyer delivered the Vale dictory and Margaret Harder gave the Salutatory The following day we returned for the Senior Day exercises whereupon we took our departure from the Hallowed Halls of Dubois High never to return as students We were happy rn the thought that we would be the Post graduating Class to finish our education tn the old building Our best wtshes go out to the future students in their new home 0 - v vat 3 ' -- l E I .
