The rickety old door of Dubois High creaked open in 1954 to admit forty-six brave and ambitious Freshmen into its old. The job of educating such a group was left to the following people: A.J. Kreitzer, Principal, Elmer Zehr, iocial Studies, Paul Phillips, Math, Henry Seger, English and Latin, Ralph Seger, Coach and Physical Education, laron Parks. Biology and Agriculture, Mrs. Lula Seger, Home Economics, Mrs. Charlotte Rasche, Music, Miss lmanda Toliver, English. I vliss Amanda Toliver was our class sponsor. We elected the following as our class officers: Pres-Sharon Perkins, lice-Pres-Helen Dorsam, Sec-Carolyn Anderson, Treas-Eric Krodel: Reporters-Furba Lou Ziegler and Theodore Calkwarf. Ve chose Carolyn Anderson and Sharon Perkins as queen attendants and the cheerleaders chosen from our class were iurba Lou Ziegler and Sharon Perkins. During the summer of 1955, a miraculous change came over our class. We were no longer a group of beginning Freshmen, but now, in the fall of the same year, we once again entered DHS. This time as Sophomores. is we all gathered together again, we noticed eight of our old classmates were missing. But we also found that we lad gained Lorraine Beuchler as a classmate. Jur faculty was the same except for the following changes: Richard Kemper replaced Charlotte Rasche and Kenneth liley replaced Amanda Toliver. 'aul Phillips was our class sponsor and our class officers were, Pres-Don Patcheak, Vice-Pres-Carolyn Anderson, Rec-Linus Bauer, Treas-Judy Friedman. Judy Friedman and Carolyn Anderson were our queen attendants and Furba lou Ziegler and Sharon Perkins were again cheerleaders. Ks Jolly Juniors, we returned to Dubois High on August 28, 1956, to find that Lorraine Buechler, Margaret Richy ind Clara Mae Schnell were not with us. During the first semester, we also lost four more of our class, but we also gained Betty Beyke, Darlene Schnell, and Norman Keller. Phe faculty changes were: Mrs. Wilma Beckman replaced Mrs. Lula Seger, and Mr. John Lyons replaced Mr. Ken- ieth Riley. l , Jur class sponsor was Mr. Henry Seger and class officers were: Pres-Don Patcheak, Vice-Pres-Judy Friedman, Sec- Iarolyn Anderson, Treas-Linus Bauer. Thus thirty-six strong, we plunged forward on our magazine campaign and our Junior Carnival was held on October B at the gym. Cheerleaders chosen from our class were Judy Friedman and Sharon Perkins. Our queen attendants were Sharon Schiller and Carolyn Anderson. Jnder the direction of Mr. A. J. Kreitzer, we presented our class play, Desperate Ambrose, the ninth and eleventh rf April. A The last event of our Junior year was the Junior-Senior Banquet-Prom, at which we entertained the Senior Class. t was held at the Rustic on April 23. The music for the evening was provided by Willie Bartley and his band. Jon Patcheak represented DHS in the Dubois County I Speak For Democracy contest and we were all very proud 0 have him place first. Echoes of Hi, I haven't seen you all summer, and other comments could be heard throughout the halls of DHA as hirty-five Seniors retumed to finish their high school education. Ale were sorry that Lafern Bauer was unable to finish her last year with us. Mr. Elmer Zehr sponsored our Senior Ilass. Our class officers were: Pres-Don Patcheak, Vice-Pres-Judy Friedman, Sec-Carolyn Anderson, Treas-Lowell Jorsam, Class reporters-Sharon Perkins, Darlene Schnell, and Betty Ann Beyke. Jnder the supervision of Mr. John Lyons, work was begun on the Jeep Echo and The Echo. udy Friedman and Furba Lou Ziegler represented our class as Cheerleaders. Jnder the direction of Mr. Henry Seger, the Seniors presented their play, The Case of the Missing Heirs, on love ber sixth and seventh, it th annual Huntingburg Christmas Festival, Judith Friedman represented our school as the Holiday Queen. Edna Zehr epresented our class as the DAR Good Citizen. ass was proud to have Janet Bleemel represent DHS in the countv I Speak For Democracy contest. I I or members oi the Beta Club enjoyed seeing the Ice Review. ! Q oodman and Jerry Breeding were crowned Prom King and Queen at the Junior-Senior Prom. by A ril 27, Baccalaureate Services were held at the Gymnasium, followed by Commencement that week. Fhus, alter four years of many happy.memories, our high school career was ended, and once more we passed ,hrough the doors of Dubois High. This time never to return, but to use the knowledge we gained here to achieve nur goals.
