money by selling magazines under the Curtis Plan We were able to sell over tooo worth of magazines The leading salesman was Eugene Coble Our class play was entitled 'Grandad Steps Out' and was directed by Mr Kreltzer On April 25 the Junior Class, under the sponsorship of Miss Seng, were hosts at the Junior Senior Banquet and Prom Louise Hem erlein was again selected as yell leader and the basketball queen attendants were Marilyn Hall and Lillian Pieper We ushered ln our senior year without change in personnel The only changes in the faculty were that Mrs Ellis replaced Miss Seng and Marilyn Walker was added as music instructor Our sponsor was Mr Zehr who directed our Senior Class Play entitled UGrandad Meets A Palu Melvin Lelstner and Elta Breitwieser were elected as editors of the yearbook, The Echo Helen Heeke was elected as editor of the schoolpaper Marilyn Hall was elected as the basketball queen and her senior attendants were Helen Heeke and Imogene Voelkel Louise Hemmerlein was elected to represent Dubois High School at the Holiday Festival at Huntingburg Elta Breltwleeer was selected by the Junior class as the Prom Queen Louise Hemmerlein was selected as yell leader for the fourth consecutive year After a busy year, filled with numerous pleasures and considerable hard work, our stay in Dubois High School came to a final conclusion with the Baccalaureate Services on April 22 and the Commencement later that week We now said Adieu to a grand school, s fine student body and a truly great faculty. X ,L Q W On August 28, 1947 forty one freshmen came to the Dubois High School in quest of more and newer fields of education The faculty consisted of Mr Beeks, Principal, Mr Zehr, English Mr Kreit er, Social Studies, Mr Seger, Commerce Coach, Mrs Schiller, Mathematics, and Mrs Zehr, Home Economics Mrs Zehr was our Sponsor Louise Hemmerlein, a member of our class was elected as a yell leader The basketball queen attendants were Marilyn Hall and Marie Fuhrman Upon our return as sophomores Alva Baer and Faye Voelkel didnot return but Howard Anderson and Robert Glenn, who had attended Cuzco High School were welcomed into our class During the year James Cooper, Lester Weisheit and Marie Fuhrman quit school There were several changes in the faculty as Mr Kreitzer replaced Mr Beeks as principal, Mr McCutcheon became the Science teacher, Miss Shurig became the English teacher, and Mrs McCutcheon replaced Mrs Zehr as Home Economics teacher Our sponsor was Mr McCutcheon under whose guldance we were able to give a very successful carnival Louise Hemmerlein was again selected as a yell leader and the basketball queen attendants were Marilyn Hall and Louise Hemmerlein At the beginning of our Junior year Donald Hentrup, Ardella Hopf and Hilbert Sermersheim failed to return. But their place was taken by Harold Wineinger, who transferred from French Lick High School and Edward Wineinger, who transferred from Losants- ville High School. During the year Robert Glenn and Edward Wineinger dropped out of school. However, the next year Edward returned to school to continue his education, for which, he has our congratulations. The only change in our faculty was Miss Seng, who replaced Miss Shurig. Some of the activities during our Junior Year were: raising I7
